Sadly the NHS wouldn't treat me. They said that I was too leaky.
They're very rude.

Sounds like (Mrs S) going to NHS doc for saddle sore.....
Doc: take these antibiotics and see how it goes.
Mrs S: Any chance that they'll help?
Doc: No
Mrs S: Hmmmm.... -

Just seen this thread, bloody hell. I have nurse / medic mates who share this kind of story for shock purposes. You'll be some nurse's drinking story for years to come, if that's any comfort?
Heal up soon.

Sadly the NHS wouldn't treat me. They said that I had to leave it untreated for a long period before considering whether to do anything. That was not satisfactory.
Thats un-believable!
Are you asking for the treatment over the Drs advice? maybe try another Dr - you can ask for second opinions until you get the one you want, that and drum it up a little, you can't sleep, stress etc all the knock on illnesses that would cost the hospital more to treat.Keep teh chin up Clive
Don't worry to much, all this time off the bike and you'll still be faster than Zed -

Pip. I have seen a total of seven doctors. Only the last two knew what they were on about. It should have been treated ages ago. The other doctors were saying that it should be left for a year or so and it might just go away. Apparently it would not have gone away but the internal scarring would have become greater and the problem more ingrained. Anyway, I have paid for BUPA for years. It is necessary as I cannot just drop everything to have an operation but need, where possible, to schedule these things around work. Today BUPA said they would pay for everything and so I am happy. Private hospitals are also a little nicer if you get stuck in them for a few days. It is easier to deal with work calls etc. There also have wireless internet but I was not really up to using that on my last visit.

Sagas like this seem all too common, unfortunately--it happened to me a few years ago. Little is quite as frustrating as that.

I just flicked back to the start of it all to re-cap over everything you've been through, and the progression of the story. The suffering and discomfort... the openness you've shown.... my face screwed up every time "sack", "drain" and "fluid" are mentioned due to sensitive squeem reflect.... Man, we've been with you through it all, and are just hoping you finally get back to full health.
I have just ordered some replacement cleats.

Had my MRI scan last night. Half an hour lying in a tight tube with sounds reminiscent of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music. They gave me a CD to take home. Can't work out how to post the pictures on here. If anyone has a desire to see sections of my buttock, please PM me and we'll find a way.
Operation on Thursday. Recovery Friday and then, hopefully, riding again by 22 Feb.

My friend went private for his Knee 4 years ago and hasn't stopped banging on about it since.
The best choice. I love their "leave it and it will heal on its own" approach, it's like my DadGreat news on the date, but don't book anything in for it, just in case

Private is much better, I smashed my heal into six peices and the NHS doctor said the only thing that could be done was to fuse the ankle joint so I would have no movement at all in my left ankle (he also said I would definatly not cycle again, ever). I was covered by my old mans BUPA and went private. It still gives me jip in the cold 12 years on but with a big metal plate in my foot sortted out by a propper heal specialist did wonders. I dread to think what my life would have been like had I not been lucky enough to have that oporation.
Good luck with your arse Clive, I wish you a speedy recovery followed by a speedy season on the track.
