I'd appreciate it as the OP if the TrixiDix original thread (i.e. the one that's still going) is kept in the rides and races section.. not bothered if it then dies on its arse, my theory is it'll still be a good one for reference for new people.
But yeah I'll be joining james, as long as you create a thread for you and bike destroyer to have a chit chat about your shopping etc... that one I will be ignoring ;)

]Haha cheers Phil, we're keeping it on PM these days ;). For what its worth I agree with what you're saying about Trixiedix it's a ride/race/meet and its one of the things that inspired me to start doing tricks on my fixed (along with my bmx background), it also serves really well as a great introduction to basic bike handling skills for beginners just starting out, teaching people to skip stop, skid, trackstand etc, and then progress on to doing tricks.

I'm not so sure on that, the tricks/freestyle scene in London is huge, both in and outside of the fixed gear community even if you forget about all the bmxers out there, (singlespeed mtb street riders for instance) and forums such as trick track (http://www.tricktrack.org/forums/) currently have several regular posters on there who are also members of this forum, i'm not proposing we create something as niche as they have (specifically for fixed gear tricksters only), but simply a place where people can enjoy talking about that kind of riding in general, bike set-ups, videos etc etc, in one place, @ Murtle: Thanks we know what a group is, but thats not what this thread is about.
the number of people doing tricks in london may be huge, that's not the same as a huge scene, nor the same as this forum needing a seperate section. I don't see tricks threads inundating this forum...
also plagairists Objections show the fractured nature of the various tricker scenes...
Having said all that I hope your group is popular enough to become a sub-forum...

If tricks and stuff get their own section on the forum, I want one for LOLCATS. I'm going to be setting up camp in front of the Battersea Dogs and Cats home, plucking wings off a cat until my demands are met.

Can the two not co-exist peacefully?
As you are fully aware they seem to be totally unable to. The BMX feeds and forums that you mention are proof of this.My point is simple. The occasional BMX thread on the main forum will appeal to a vast span of people, from those who raced in the 70&80s to the 90s teenagers like us right through to the newschoolers.
FGF is not interesting to the wide range of people that BMX is. Give it 30 years and that may be different.
I have used this forum (like the cheap slag she is) to meet up with people and ride BMX. If you moved BMX threads into a group or subforum of fixed wheel dominated trick sessions I would miss the threads which actually may interest me. If you decide to go back to your bmx one day and post up in general or rides & races then the chances are I'd turn up and ride.
Incidentally from the people whom I have met on here and still ride with, all ride Fixed wheels for transport, for run and some even for racing. But none have been welcoming of FGF as they don't see the point. You will never be able to do on a fixed what you can on a BMX, this doesn't mean that you personally shouldn't try. Just leave me to carry on with my preferred weapon of choice without attempting to drag my attention back to your sport.

As the "scene" grows bigger and bigger, I feel we are generating and welcoming more and more trick/street/freestyle riders on this forum, and as lovely as it is that we have a few dedicated threads, I think it would be really nice to have a dedicated forum, where we could maybe post tutorials, pictures, videos discussion on trick specific bike setups etc etc, without cluttering up the general forum enviroment, it could also be a great place to could combine the pretty decent amount of tricks specific threads that we already have floating around, tricks and skids, trixiedix, sunday sessions,** bmx videos, etc etc.
The polo boys have their dedicated section, and I think it would be great if the tricks side of fixed gear/single speed** riding could be treated as equal, as I am sure there are a lot of guys on here that would welcome this as an addition to the forum. Anyways, I thought i'd post up a poll to get the general consensus on this, since we live in a democracy after all ;)the offending tracts. please remove. ;)

I hear your points well, its not my aim to remove bmx from the main forum sections at all, it upsets me that there is all this hate and elitist attitude almost entirely from the new school bmxers these days towards MTB riders hittin street and park, and towards fixed gear riders doing tricks etc.
I've met and known people who were around bmx from the very early days, (Bill Stupple for instance), and the bicycle union guys, cyclone cycles lot, Ray etc, and they have absolutely no animosity towards people trying to do their own thing on whatever bike they do it on, they remember how BMX freestyle was laughed at by the racers when it first began, but like all things there is evolution and progress, i'm not expecting a slot in the x-games, but its something fun and challenging that i'll continue to enjoy on my own, and with my mates. I may well be rocking a single speed bike again sometime soon, probably a street set up MTB, in addition to my fixed, but thanks to my shoulder I doubt I will back on a bmx anytime soon, but you never know. -

Well then I'm the man in te middle.
I ride a BMX and have done for about 10 years. I ride it for tricks etc and I used to use it for transport until I came across big bikes such as 700c freewheel/fixed. I also enjoy riding the trick sessions on my fixed bike. I find it fun but I don't take it too far, I still use my bmx for the majority of trick stuff.
I see what you're saying about putting all bmx threads in a different area and I don't agree to that. I think that SOME bmx threads should go into a sub category, such as the bmx videos thread and talk about general trick things and how they are relative to fixed freestyle. But the bmx meet-ups for people who also ride fixed/freewheel should stay in rides/races and general so that the majority can choose whether they want to join in or not.
Plagiarist, I'd be interested in meeting with you guys to ride bmx as I have only been in London since Oct and am still just touching the tip of the iceberg as far as bmxing here is concerned.

Anytime dude, I've only been BMXing again (7 year absence) since November. Still trying to get out 2-3 times a week but that's polo and other riding dependent.Where abouts are you based?

Be patient, Phil, very soon you'll be able to BMX under the waterline, as well.

I really like the idea of a FGF sub forum, but I agree with Object that you shouldn't have BMX in it. They're different things entirely, there's no doubt that lots of the FGF tricks are inspired by BMX, but I don't think that it goes the other way round.
Although there was that BMX dude who had a burn on Jordan's bike n Saturday and he seemed to like it.

Does this mean that only young hipsters with no brakes and an established track record in BMX are now welcome at TrixieDix?
Sorted :)
