Those things won't pass very hot water, so you need to find out what temperature it is letting water through at. You won't get above 50°C, they are designed that way.

Junction box for ceiling light downstairs? Not my area but I'm surprised if that's allowed?
-
• #254
As long as you need a tool to remove covers around a bath then the space below isn't part of the bathroom zones.
Don't worry about it.

• #255
Well it’s def hotter than it was so will do until after the apocalypse and I can get someone round to get the one way valves cleared.
Cheers for the help and good to know the junction box is nothing to worry about. -

Can anybody in central/east lend me a set of plumbing rods?
I have a small blockage in the backyard but don't really want to buy a set.

Does anyone have a recommended plumber based in East London? I'm in E17

I have a soldered joint that is weeping. It’s not enough to warrant a plumber whilst the situation is as it is at present. I seem to remember a tube of clear gel that sealed stuff like this but can’t remember it’s name. Can anyone help? TIA

Fernox LS-X can seal a soldered joint sometimes but it's not guaranteed. It's more for compression fittings but for £5 it's worth a go.

I've used Hugo nottage before and whilst he isn't the cheapest he knows what he is doing

Milliput....solid stuff. And cheap.
Edit : there are better products after some research. I have used it sucessfully tho. -

Any recommended plumbers in South East London? I have a very slow filling toilet tank (about 5 minutes between flushes). The usual local Facebook groups don't actually seem to be throwing up too many reliable names right now.

Help please. I’m about 2” short to be able to connect the waste from a new sink. What bits do I need?

I'm sure others will have a better idea, but I would have thought a short bit of pipe and then a coupler would sort that, assuming it is 32mm something like this https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-wc07-universal-compression-waste-straight-coupler-white-32mm-x-32mm/15490 would sort it, cut a short bit of pipe to go into the 90 degree you have there and place couple between new bit and the out pipe.

Ta. Just measured the pipes and the right-angled bit off the u-bend is 32mm but the outlet appears to be 40mm (hard to measure accurately. Am i right in thinking that it's probably 1 1/4"?
The piece upstream from the the u-bend appears to be the bigger diameter too.

ah you may have 2 different profiles the, instead of using coupler, can just use a reducer https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-st28m-straight-connector-white-32mm-x-40mm/95260 and then a short bit of 32mm pipe connected to the right angle.
If not 100% sure I would buy a 32 coupler, 40 coupler and a 32 to 40 reducer, covers you for all eventualities!

Yep, that would do it!

Nice. Thanks man!

Are those cutoff valves with slots for a screwdriver instead of handles?
-
• #271
Yes they are isloating valves for use with a flat blade screwdriver

I went to collect a Freecycle item from this house a week or so ago and couldn't help but admire the pipework as I trudged up and down the side entrance.
