Hi Kirsten/Andy,
Further to the email below, Nes is also looking for a venue to run a
European bike polo tournament. Would either of you know of a venue in the
area Plattfields/Chorlton/Whitworth or a bit further afield where they
could run this tournament (school/park)? They preferably need a couple of
five-a-side type pitches that they can ride bikes on - tarmac's fine. The
area would have to be enclosed so that the ball is kept in. If you have
any suggestions, please let me know!

I thought, 'oh not surprising really', at first thinking Day was from the council. Then I reread and realised he is developments manager for british cycling! What a fucking idiot!
Would it be helpful to send him links to the polo league in london or polo forums and pictures of games to help him realise this is a serious sport that is starting? You'd think he'd get the message from the international tournaments that are held. oh well, ironically they might take us a bit mroe seriously in lycra.

basically laurel is being well helpful though and is contacting the park wardens at whitworth park to see if we can do anything with the slippy court..
-
• #7
Fuck "British Cycling", lets just find somewhere that we can use and not have to ask for anyone's permission.
-
• #8
+1 when 30 people turn up to chorlton for the tourney people will get off the court. we can just edit a letter from the council to say we booked it and wave it in their faces.

After last nights frustrations its time to get pro-active and find some new courts. The 3 best options we have at the moment are Platt Fields/Chorlton/Whitworth. If all 3 are occupied then we're pretty much fucked when you factor in the time it takes to get from court to court.
I was mega annoyed last night that we couldn’t get into our stride, and more so that i couldn't bring the whoopin' down on Snoops. So lets use this thread to post details of potential courts and perhaps organise times to go and check them out. Lets think out side the box and not just focus on public parks. I'm sure there is the perfect unused court out there just begging to be used for polo. The main polo thread is getting a bit congested so lets just keep this one for the courts. A few people have posted up suggestions in the other thread so if you can re-post them up in here that would be grand.
I think we should check out ordsall park in Salford and Manley Park on Calrendon rd.

there's a well ace court in birchfields park which is well quiet and well close to platt fields.
-
• #22
Well that just ace. Lets like well go and check that out asap. Ace xx

Hi guys,
Just wondering what your/BC's views are on Bike Polo. I had the woman who
runs the bike polo team on the phone to me last night. She asked about
the ability to access funding and to possibly affiliate to BC. Do you
have any links to Bike polo clubs across the UK? It seems a good sport to
play for skills, balance etc and would be good if we could support this
group?
Thanks,
Laurel.
