Ronin - One of the greatest car chase scenes ever....
ONE of the greatest, perhaps, but not THE greatest. Step forward Bullitt.
The Ronin chase seems a bit repetitive to me, and you never get the feeling that either of them are actually driving the car. De Niro looks like he's on the way to the golf course (with indigestion), and the girl seems more like she's auditioning for a shampoo advert. They do change gear, but randomly. Also the cars look like they have auto transmissions, so why change gear? The whole thing seems more reminiscent of those Brunelle alleycat films than anything else.
Meanwhile, Bullitt: proper car (Ford Mustang),proper actor (Steve McQueen), proper bad guys, proper driving, proper pacing... quite the best car chase ever! And does Steve McQueen change gear? Double de-clutches on the way up and down. A true pro! The standard by which all others are judged.
OK, fucked link. Try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMc2RdFuOxI

Even though it has 4 identical green Beetles each loosing thier hubcap at the same point, it's the best chase scene i've seen, that bit where the bad guys do their seatbelts, then floor it, woah! And how did you forget Steve's turtleneck jumper?!?! He is cool personified.

and the mistake Steve did, overshot the corner, end up reversing and going ahead, they kept it because they thought it look geniune enough for the film, that's a top mark compare to the other car chase film that they tried to not show any kind of mistake while driving.

Yeah I saw a great print of him during that doing the reverse burnout looking out the window, fantastic shot.

+1 for the beat that my heart skipped.
I love life is a miracle, but it is a bit romantic, although it's worth watching for the scene with the girls in the gold hot pants snorting coke off the train line used to smuggle arms through serbia. Classic.
I never get tired of the big lebowski, and I can watch pretty in pink, the breakfast club, and sixteen candles over and over.
But I don't think those are the sort of movies that your looking for.
