is the geometry just borrowed from whatever the allez is doing that year? do they still do a columbus E5 one?
-
• #28
So the geometry should be changed because some don't like the look of it rather than because there is actually anything wrong with it from a ride/handling viewpoint.
But don't we need more options, some people may like the sloping top tube so just as well there are some choices about. -

the geometry is very slack compared to a proper track frame.
i had one for a while and it was really comfortable to ride but going to a proper track frame it appears slow.

The monaco paint job would look cool on a big thick tubed tight-geometry aluminium track bike.

Could that be because it is designed for road use rather than track maybe?
If road geometry makes a bike good enough for Pro Racers then it is probably good enough for most. Thinking about it, if track geometry was better for the road then the pro racers would use track geometry wouldn't they?

build you're own bike. its better.

I think a lot of people are talking about geometry despite knowing fuck all about it. I certainly don't have a clue.
It's blatantly just the stock comment for langsters - the knee-jerk response so that people can feel like they know something about bikes:
"So yeah I have an 07 langster..."
"The poo-brown one? Yeah pity about the geometry..." -

hahaha, megalol. i'd say you've hit the nail on the head there. langsters are lovely to ride and the silver one looks ok imo. the monaco effort on the other hand looks down right horrible, fucking awful in fact. again, in my humble opinion.
alex, i'm listening to the music on your myspace page. it's good, i like it.

I don't particularly like the way it looks either, just trying to make a point that the geometry is fine (more the style of frame, being compact that some don't seem to like)
People saying the geometry needs sorting out would suggest there are issues with handling/ride which I know there are not as I had one for a few months a few years ago.
If people don't like compacts then fine but there is nothing to 'sort out' -

I thought that this, combined with the sloped TT gave it its unpopular look (MTB like).Personally I like compact geo on a road bike, but then I'm only 5'7" (have manged to get a horizontal TT track frame to fit though, but only have stepover with shoes on)

I'm thinking about getting one of those silver Langsters for Mal. They are light (especially compared to the tank she rides now.. no not me!), cheap and she's not in a competition for eastend fucking style points. So, if anyone has an actual reason not to buy her one, ie. they explode when taken west of Baker St, then I'd like to hear it.

It's even called the "Langster POLISH".. that's gotta be a winner! :)

You're on a bit of a bike buying spree at the moment, init.

If your after a compact geo; alu; drop barred; single speed/fixed then its got to be on the short list. Decent carbon fibre fork too.
This sale blurb made me laugh though."Track racers and fearless urban commuters are a particular breed of rider, and for them, only the simplest, purest form of speed is sufficient to get the blood flowing."
BTW the boardman single speed has slopped geo (not so much though); alu; drop bars; and has a carbon fork, but has better wheels (IMHO, Langster uses sleeved rims, boardman uses open sports).

Good for the money.

Er, cheesecake?
That would work, true. But I am time and cooking skills poor.
Besides, I've grown weary of her Raleigh sitting there. It's fuggin heavy too which can hardly be encouraging for her. -

Anyone know what the rear cog is and what gear inches this gives it? It runs a 42t on the front, I know this much. Ta.

Langster geometry
The 49 has seat-tube angle 75.5 and head-tube angle 71.75 and effective top-tube 518 mm.
The 61 has seat-tube angle 72.5 and head-tube angle 73.5 and effective top-tube 600mm.
Doe anybody know what the angles on a Bianchi Pista are?
The newer 07 onwards Langsters geometery just looks wrong, and when you add in a fugly hipster baiting LTD paintjob what you get is a mess
The bikes themselves are fine, i had an 06 that served me very well, but a beauty it wasnt
