  • Ok, so this is just an idea at the moment, but i wanted to get some feedback and ideas from everybody.

What i'm thinking of is a group ride on easter saturday (due to people with family commitments on sunday) where we all donate a bit of money each to buy Easter eggs, then ride to various childrens homes and hospitals around London dropping them off to the little kiddy winks.

Bunny ears and tails compulsory :)

Let me know what you think...short notice i know but i'm sure we can do something in time.

OK....if anybody wants to donate towards eggs here's the paypal address....
    thebunnyrun@rocketmail.com

i'm assuming donations are fine by paypals rules as it's not any kind of gambling.

  • that'd be nice.

    Creme eggs?

  • Top plan!

  • excellent idea!

  • can you ride to Rouen to visit the chocolate egg deprived polo players that'll be there :-)

  • eggsellent idea!

    come on Gina... rudimentary..

Scott can't get out of the country.

  • Creme eggs?

well at least I'm not selfish, you just want to have them on you own!

  • Surely in these times of mass obesity it would be more charitable to ride round children's homes etc. and take chocolate eggs from the kids...

  • this would be so nice to do next week.. I totally agree with Scott, should be easy to get it together in time.

it's true I'm a big fan of the creme egg.. I guess we should think about what we'll be delivering though and the kind of quantities we're talking about to each children's ward. Maybe we should start by phoning them up and ask how many kids they've got staying there?

  • bah I was hoping this was a bunny themed Dun Run thread...

    But yes, stirling idea!

    I'll stop rabbiting on now.

  • sounds great! I'm in

  • I'm up for it.

  • Were I in London I would have joined you..
    Great idea

  • I had a quick look on google maps....for childrens hospitals it throws up 5 or 6 that aren't too far apart...furthest being chelsea...totally doable.
    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=children's+hospitals&sll=51.510025,-0.039825&sspn=0.217522,0.615234&ie=UTF8&ll=51.515152,-0.039825&spn=0.217497,0.615234&z=11
I found cadburys chocolate buttons easter eggs cheap at tesco...stocks allowing.

childrens homes are a bit more spread out but some are still doable....hopefully someone who is better at directions/route planning could figure out a route to incorporate as many places as possible?
    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=children's+homes&sll=51.522096,-0.123253&sspn=0.054366,0.153809&ie=UTF8&ll=51.510025,-0.039825&spn=0.217522,0.615234&z=11
I'm up for doing this whenever if we can get it done. maybe even less people, doing it in the daytime, on days off....multiple trips to allow us to get to the places that are slightly further away?

    Again, ideas welcome.
I'd really like to do this as i'm unable to see my own children this easter, so i can only imagine what it's like for children who never see, or don't have families...or those who have to spend the time in hospital.

The memorial ride showed what's possible if we all get involved...so i'm hoping this will work too.
    cheers!

  • Scott, what a superb idea. I maybe tied up for the actual ride on Saturday (would be free for Good Friday) but happy to donate a few quid.

  • All donations welcomed!
Like i say, the date isn't set in stone...i just picked that date to give more time to organise it.
I'm happy to go out every day though with whoever is free if necessary...even if we just drop off eggs at one place each time.

  • I have to work but I will definitely contribute some money, just let me know how.

  • a few people may be going to herne hill on good friday, so may rule them out. And the Vintage Jersey ride is on the Sunday.

  • As Easter is not far anymore we should get precise soon!
    I suppose starting a list isn't a bad idea....
So who is in for the delivering and when?

    1. Gina

    2. Fresh
  • O.P updated with a paypal address for donations towards buying eggs :)
    cheers!

  • What day is this on? Easter Saturday?

And what hospital? Great Ormond St? It would be good to know so that we can set a target on the number of eggs we need to acquire to ensure no-one is left out and also to consult with the ward nurses to ensure that we're not uninvited.
