  • This happened to me recently, too--faith in humanity was restored insofar as the bike was still there when I returned the next morning with friend and angle grinder in tow. Good luck!

  • Thanks guys, have tried the tweezers and wire etc, soho fir station is a no go as the boss is a twat. Locksmith on the way, fingers crossed he can either get the broken bit of key out or chop it!

  • Glad to know the bike was still there! Good luck with the rescue.

  • Rescue complete! Had to call in the locksmith who tried to get the piece of key out, but it was too deep. Out came the angle grinder and the lock was history in about a minute. Going to contact Kryptonite to see what they have to say about it because neither lock not locksmith were cheap.

In case this happens to anyone else in Soho fire station jurisdiction, don't bother going down there - the normal firefighters were really keen to help and couldn't have been friendlier, but they had to check everything with their boss upstairs and he is completely unsympathetic and just wants to cover his arse. I understood why they couldn't help on a Saturday night, but first thing Sunday morning, they were all sitting around drinking tea, hardly dealing with any life or death situation.

Thanks for all your suggestions and helpful advice everyone, this is a great forum!

  • Some fool (or thief) has locked their bike through mine on Stoke Newington High St and I don't know how long I'll be waiting for their return. Is anyone not too far away with a pair of bolt cutters or an angle grinder who wouldn't mind helping me out?

Let me know asap if you can help!

    Andy

  • More than likely a thief, check this out:
