Women: What's your favorite saddle?

  • Potentially..

  • I know this was months ago... people vary so much in the saddle department, but my all-time favourite saddle is a cheap Specialized women's saddle with cut-out and some padding but not too squishy. Sadly they don't make it anymore (it was about £25 full price) and while I thought for sure they should do something similar now - looking online I see two £30 options: Toupe Sport which is a similar shape to mine, but as a mens saddle I think the nose is longer, and the Myth Sport which is for women, and like mine aimed at MTB (should be fine for road). If it was me I'd probably take a punt on the Myth Sport.

  • Still relevant so thanks for the answer. I'll check it out for sure, very helpful!

  • I haven't seen either in the flesh, but more just not to overlook the cheaper options. so long as it has a cut-out/recess and isn't a sofa, it has as good chance as something more expensive. would be better to take the saddle-user to the shops to choose, of course.

  • Hello.

I'm selling a Selle Italia Gel Flow Diva over here:

It was once white, a bit tatty looking, but if anyone is looking for a functioning women's specific saddle, get in touch.

  • Two years since anyone has asked about female saddles? Seriously?

Missus rides a Specalized Jett on her SS as suggested by J in like post #1 but needs another saddle for her new bike (factory looks sexy butt wasn't grate) and the SLS something something I've given her to try isn't as good as the Jett. What's the current crop of goto girl saddles at the moment?

EDIT: Also, if you're looking to shift any ladies-specific saddles that might suit let me know. Ta.

  • Specialized power pro! Comes in 143 or 155mm widths. Love mine, I have 3.

  • Have a 155 power you can also borrow to try out Hippo if you like

  • £175? She's not having a saddle worth more than mine.

I presume the other models are the same shape just steel vs. ti or something?

  • You must have found the s-works version. Yeah it's just the rails and shell are ti/carbon. Sigma sports have a version for about 80 quid.

  • After a 142 spesh and a rock hard toupe she now says the brooks c15 carved is way better than anything she has had before.

  • Yeah, The Expert and Comp versions are much cheaper.

    Crabon rails >>>

  • If she needs flat and cutout: spez pro, 155 for the hippier among us, 143 average.

My picky hips prefer selle smp, pro for the fixed and plus for the tourer.
I am a 155 type so she would need another model then if she wants to go that way.

  • I have no idea. I think her Jett is the 155 version and she seems happy with that but don't think she's had anything else to compare it with and isn't exactly smashing out miles to find out.
I've ordered a Selle Italia Diva Gel Flow for her to try out and I'll probably get hold of a Power saddle from somewhere - maybe TTF has some.

  • Well the power is - like the wheels, sat on my relegated summer bike so not needed for the foreseeable. You can borrow it with or without the wheels if you want her to try it without wasting money. In all honesty its a little wide for me anyway, I used to have the 142 or 143 whatever it is and preferred that until I crashed and broke it.

  • That's probably a good idea. Are you ever near Paddington? Otherwise I could come and get it one night I guess.

I wouldn't mind test the 143 version for myself. I didn't get on with the Sitero but the Power seems quite different.

  • I work in Acton now. Finish at 4 on Friday, can ride over to Paddington pretty easily after then

  • PMd you.

I'm leaving early Friday so that might not work but other nights I can be in Acton.

  • are you mansplaining her saddle needs? :p

Too wide saddle = leg rub, too narrow saddle = the hip bones won't quite place on it comfortable which means you don't get good support and sore lower back, at least in my experience... so if she has no leg rub, the 155 may be fine. I guess.

I found a too padded saddle gives me saddle sores/numb bits syndrome but not sure she will get the same experience.

    Hope it works out!

  • If being a man and explaining stuff is mansplaining then I do it all the time. It's a curse of being so damn smart. ;) Are you femsplaining saddle width effects to me?

She doesn't know what she needs because she's only ever used a couple of saddles. All I'm doing is collecting female opinions, getting hold of the saddles suggested and hopefully giving them to her to test. I can't tell if her butt likes a saddle or not but having some options is better than no options.

  • Are you femsplaining saddle width effects to me?

  • You walked straight into winding up attempt ;)

Yeah it is tricky getting a saddle, I hope she has more luck than I did had to try quite a few!

  • femsplaining can sadly be a thing with women telling men how to handle kids!
