Sounds very much like my struggle ; )
I'm increasingly thinking shelling out for a Brooks is the path to enlightenment/happiness!

It worked for our lass...
Before xmas when we went for a ride together I could always tell whereabouts she was behind me because of her constant bleating and yelps of pain. Now I have to turn around every 100m or so to make sure she is still with me - and there she is, right on my wheel with a massive pain free smile on her face.

Poots, I have a nice broken in B17 for sale if you want to give it a try first~
-
• #380
I've also got one I should probably sell seeing as I don't get on with it...
-
• #381
I have one too I need to get rid of!

What colour(s) are the above Brooks' ladies? I have a bike that I'd like to test one on.
-

If it's broken in isn't it broken into the shape of that person's bottom?
But yeah! Ladies Brooks B17! Talk to me!

The one i have is brown
Hmm.. i've never really believed that they're 'moulded' specifically to one bottom... mostly it seems like the part that you sit on becomes more flexible .. but then the one I have seems softer than most -

Mine's black. Has a scuff on the nose but I've hardly used it.

Mine's never really moulded to me, in fact it barely has a dent but I've seen some which are insanely moulded. You can use proofhide to help break it in. I am rolling with a new men's B17 courtesy of Brooks atm :) I would say never ride a soaked saddle if you can help it, it will start to sag the leather and distort the shape which in turn causes the rivets to stick out. Cover with a plastic bag when outside.

echoing's Jess sentiment about wet saddle, if you want to break it in, loosen the bolt on the nose of the saddle a bit, ride for a couple weeks, then tighten it up again to it's original location.
quickest and easiest way to break it in.

I feel like unless you're a very small lady (I'm 5'6") the B17 ladies will do you wrong - it's at least 2 inches shorter than the men's version, which meant a forward position won't work with it at all! I was in major pain in seconds. DX
Love the B17 but only commute on it. Didn't get on with the Swallow.

I'd be interested in a brown B17, I need to replace the B60-sommat on the wedding bike when I get a new seatpost.

Yep, never understood why the Ladies saddles are quite so short. Does anybody listen though? Of course not.

my gf is after an mtb friendly saddle, a Ragley and an SLR gel flow have proven painful. She condortably uses a Selle Italia Trans Am with padding and cut away on road bike and is considering one of these, but with more movement etc on mtb should she be looking for something slightly different?
Any colour considered so long as it's white or purple.

I've never heard anyone else complain about this actually - I just find it too wide.
Mine's black, I'll post a pic at some point.

After my enthusiasm re Brooks saddles, I'll have to contain myself til I return from my cycling holiday cos I need the money for that sigh.

Re B17: I just found mine too slippery.

Alex, I liked that b/c otherwise I had too much rub. Now my trews are a bit safer and once you find the right placement you hardly move at all!

For a lady though, **Mr **Grooves?
Yup. They're unisex. Look again.

do any ladies out there have a B17-S that they wouldn't mind me trying for a 5 min ride?? trying to decide between the B17 (which comes in blue which is what i really want) or comfort (and honey isn't so bad, which is why it's ubiquitous)
i find my charge saddles (think it's a spoon) unnecessarily long, so the shorter length appeals.

You could try the Charge Ladle - the wimmin's version of the Spoon. Winstanleys has 'em (with blue accents): http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/14994/Charge_Ladle_Saddle
I've got a Spoon, a Ladle, and a B17 and I prefer the Ladle of the three. Also costs a third of the price of the B17 so even if it doesn't suit, you haven't chucked 60 quid down the drain.

Just bringing this to the fore again. Always rather poopoohd the saddles with cutouts, but having spent a mere 2 hours in the saddle with a Rolls at the weekend I am definitely going to get my hands on one. Things are still a little...uh...sensitive. I didn't find things so bad with a charge spoon (although that wasn't amazing) but that wasn't right either.
I think it's a shame to change - I love my Rolls. It looks pretty and it's perfect for commuting, but if I'm ever going to cycle over 30 miles again I want something that isn't going to leave me whincing for the next three days.I can't tell by looking - are mens' saddles generally longer throughout the whole length, or is it just a certain bit that is lengthened? And difference does the length really make? Debating whether to go with a selle italia mens or womens - I've only ever had mens' saddles before but maybe that's partly where I'm going wrong.
Yes.
I bought our lass one for Xmas.
She has struggled with every saddle she has ever had but since we got the Ladies B17 (about £50ish from Spa Cycles) she has been the most comfortable she has ever been.
Would recommend to a lady friend.
