what does not work is changing a system. A few weeks ago at newington, we played: Mega shuffle, then shuffled games out then someone complained they waited too long, then we shuffled everyone, then the people that were due to play complained they were lined up for a game and now everyone is shuffled together again. I really couldn't give a fuck. Shuffling out a selection of games whether its 2, 3 , 4 in the future works. Its impatience and then changing the way we do it that fucks it up. If someone decides to shuffle out 3 games and line them up in the fence, deal with it. wait your turn, drink your beer, sort your chain out but keep your oar out if the only reason you want it in is more games.

how did some people play multiple games b4 others then?

It's not about having multiple games before others, people where getting an average rotation of one game on for four games off, when there was a mass reshuffle (if we are talking about the week I was there and all the norths came down) some went from having a couple more games wait (albeit with the same people they'd played with in their last game!) to having no wait, whilst others suddenly had to wait a further four games even though they'd not played for a few games.

Everyone would have had pretty similar numbers of games (one or two difference at most)...

but people get antcy when they have to wait for 4 games let alone when they've waited for 3 and find they suddenly have to wait a further 3. (oh and it was cold waiting too!)

what about old skool throw in all mallets each game, excl last players, if someone hasn't played for 3/4/5 games, then they can ask to get in on the shuffle, and someone who played the game before last can wait out one more game?
