haha, poor choice of words

just got it home and took all the crap off it. it's brilliant for €20. the back pedal break is cool and the wheel lock is really handy. doesn't need anything except a chain and some new white wall tyres. and a wash i suppose
-
• #30
That's acctually an amazing pirce if a chain and some TLC is all it needs
-
• #31
ye, it works perfectly. the front brake was perfectly adjusted with a new cable and everything. came with a lock and helmet too. some woman in dun laoghaire just want to clear out her house.

Just bought that Carlton frame that was mentioned in Classified & Shopping the other week. It's (hopefully) lovely, but has a terrible hammerite paintjob, so it'll be a while before I can make it better. Any idea how to get that off without destroying the chrome?

looks lovely. i really wish i had had the money for it. i'm not positive but i though nitromors was alrite to use with chrome.
-
• #37
Im not positive now but I dont think that nitromores removes chrome.
There is a thread on here somewhere about it. -

it's ok according to that thread. but if it was my own bike i'd be nervous about it alrite. maybe try a slightly less powerful stripper. or don't be a bitch like me and just do it ;)

Personally i would just go with the nitromores but mask off the chrome with something like masking tape because it shouldnt burn through it and cause problems getting it off.
-
• #40
Yeah, will probably go for nitromors (but with goggles and gloves after reading some of the threads about it). I really want to keep the chrome, but don't know if it would survive if I got it powdercoated (I suspect not) so will investigate painting it myself. More updates/general questions to come, I'm sure.
Thanks again for the heads-up on the frame, irish mick. Much indebted.

As far as I know armoutex just cover the chrome and do around it, if they can do it other powdercoaters should be able to also.

Well, I haven't had a chance to sort either nitromors or a new paint job yet, but I needed to try out that frame, so quickly (& somewhat half-assedly built it up). Here's a pic, if anyone's interested:
Setup - Mavic CXP-33's on Formula/SystemEx/Can't remember exactly hubs, with Miche cranks, Dura-Ace cog & TA chainring. Old Cinelli stem & drops, older crappy Dia-Compe brake, trusty B17 on lovely Campy aero seatpost. Missing one cage, because I couldn't find the bolts and I was in a hurry.
It may not be the prettiest bike in the world, but it's proper fun.

Looks very very nice indeed!
EDIT: I have nitromores if you want some?
-
• #44
Thanks dude, I'll keep it in mind. Having built it up, I'm now not in a hurry to take it apart again...
-
• #45
Yeah I know what you mean, if you fancy a spin on it just drop me a line.
-
• #46
Just got Brooks B17 Special, green one, my bum is the happiest bum ever!!
-
• #47
It wont be until its broken in:D
-
• #48
Went for a spin already and it's so much more comfortable than my Charge!! If it's just going to get better it's going to be amazing!!
-
• #49
Can't go wrong with a B17, comfort-wise at least.

Wait, you spent €120 on a saddle?
Those bars are seriously nice.
