  • I genuinely don't think you can have a trick ratio that is good for commuting with ooomph. But if you do find one that suits you, well go you.

Of course all of these things are remedied by having a trick bike and a commuting bike.

  • My current gearing is 48-18 giving me 72.something gi, im pretty happy with it for now anyway, for my skill level its fine really.
Also its a good all-rounder gear for climbing, descents and just the general start from the lights.

  • Oh sorry I should have clarified, I have a fixed-fixed hub! So two different
    cogs can be used

  • Well personally with my 18 on the back the wheel is at the end of the dropouts, but I can still use a 15 on the other side for the track without changing the chain.
It will be quite handy when I dont actually work some Saturday;P

  • Will you be at the track next Saturday?

  • As I said, I work Saturdays so no.
But be repaired to rent a bike for yourself, plus Cycling Ireland membership for the day.

  • Yeah I know I went there last Saturday and I'm just back from training now.

Current project for me now though is getting my bike track worthy. Means drop bars, higher gear and road clipless pedals and shoes.

  • And a clamp on brake.

  • Well personally with my 18 on the back the wheel is at the end of the dropouts, but I can still use a 15 on the other side for the track without changing the chain.

There's something I didn't even think about! It should be grand though because I'm thinking of getting a smaller chainring

  • hey Crazydingo did i see a half link chain on your bike? are they any use?
    also where did you buy?
thinking about getting one my current chain is very stretched.

p.s. sorry if it isnt you i find it very hard to match faces to usernames

  • Nope, regular chain. It's a nice gold kmc chain from chainreactioncycles.com

  • Scroll a bit down the page here and you'll see my latest project. Wouldnt mind getting a gold chain for it...

  • just waiting on a miche primato advanced chainset (after my first set were threaded wrong) and a san marco regal then the dolan is done.
here's a picture of what happened to the langster too

Good God, sounds like lyrics to a Bob Dylan song... Can't say I do though... I wouldn't be the man to know though, ask Stein...

  • Haha! I think that's how the story goes anyway..
I'll just wait, i'm sure he'll read this.

  • I've met him, why?

  • Was just wondering if anyone knew him, he's a mate of the folk in Ireland i know the skate.
Only met him this year but seems like a sound geezer.

  • Cant say I know him, know the name... but howdy anyway.

  • I know the name and the skate park where he can often be found if it's the same guy..

  • I know Rocco. Why, do you want to contact him? He rides bmx, so I know him through that originally. You'll find him at Bushy Park a lot.

  • Spoke to him once, that's about it

  • Heard the arm's doing better, that's good news

  • Yup, a load better, got a nice big scar, so the question is do you want to see me gash mister?

You can feel the plate too :D

  • You broke it? I fucked mine a while ago, nearly have full extension back whoop!

Spacecowboy, you asked about a half-link chain before and while I don't have one now I will be getting one from Tokyo fixed gear (in green), they look awesome
