some might think this not big or clever but i might have taught a couple of lessons along the way;
In the past when large vehicles or buses have almost caused me serious injury because the driver has not
been using his or her mirror. if i have managed to re-compose myself and catch them at the next traffic light i have calmy looked them in the eye and then adjusted their mirror to the point of them having to stop their vehicle get out and re-adjust it.
i like to think that this gives them time to reconsider what they have done and hopefully make them be more aware in future. i will also do this if i catch them using their telephones whilst driving.
be warned though because they dont like it and sometimes they chase you, like a bus driver did once skipping two bus stops with hopeful passengers sticking their arms out.
i think it **important **that they see you do it so that they know they have to readjust it. dont do anything that could be considered criminal damage.Nice.

Thanks, Bill, I hadn't seen this yet. Really tragic.
Hanson again. Have you guys written to them?
Hanson run a 'franchise' system whereby their drivers are self employed and so can be made work harder and take more risks.
Emily Thornberry MP wrote to Hanson about the crashes and got a reply which showed the chief executive had no idea what was going on. We are chasing this to see if any action can be taken. -

Even if they have H&S policies in place, they are liable if they don't enforce them. "Duty of Care" and all that.
Doesn't matter if the driver didn't inform them, are they checking up on their contractors? More to the point can they prove they are?
Hanson should be sued by the "diminutive lady"'s family. Even as contracters they are responsible, having one fatality is unfortunate, two...

It is usually only possible to sue after a death if there have been children dependent on the person killed. I am pretty sure this does not apply to Lisa.
If it did apply in these circumstances the insurance company would pay out, it would be unlikely to come to court. -

Really?! Why?
Can't the NOK take action? Can I sign a peice of paper saying the LCC have every right to pursue a court case if I get killed on my bike?

Civil law cases are all about money, if you are a child and a lorry has killed your mother or father then you have a right to claim for loss of support. If you are a husband/wife/lover/mother/father and you lose someone who you did not depend on for financial support then the law and insurance companies are not interested.
