Any movement is only as strong as the individuals within it.
And there's the problem....you want a movement....a revolution? you need a LOT of people who all think EXACTLY the same....not a group of 'individuals'....some of whom believe in the cause...some who merely pretend to...and some who couldn't give a fuck either way but join in cos they want to act like they're part of the 'revolution'.

What do you think would have happened? People would be forced to stop gambling on house prices and, shock horror, ordinary people would be able to buy a house again. People can't jet around the world 4 times a year on holiday. Or maybe the whole rotten banking system would go through a carthasis. Every banker has been preaching the power of the free market for years and just asking for more de-regulation, now let them feel it. Don't make me pay for the rest of my life for their crisis.
You say banks are too big to fail? The environment is massive, it's all we have and sustains us and it is allowed to be destroyed - utterly. Why no £600 for a better planet?
Aren't house prices falling since this big crash? Doesn't that make buying a house easier?
Well done bankers!
Of course my hard earned savings now earn me fuck all but I can get a loan for almost no interest.. yay.. i think?

Definitely +1
All of you who rocked up today just to have a gander and perhaps a quick shout at some po-po... How many others do you think there were in those massive crowds just like you?

Anyone got shots of that awesome RIOT armored vehicle that some protesters drove into the City?
The Space Hijackers' APC. Bristly Pioneer was driving that.
Here it is, labelled by the ever-so independent and unbiased Indymedia as a police water cannon. FAIL!

"Eleven people were arrested on Wednesday morning after police uniforms were found in the back of an armoured vehicle"
I wonder if it was the same one? Quote from here http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20090401/tuk-man-dies-during-g20-violence-dba1618.html

While I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the "7-7 MI5 did it" banner. The guy holding it was a survivor off one of the buses, and so is possibly more at liberty to put forward his view on the subject than people are allowing him.
And my only first hand experience of violence today, was when I was sat down with a group of other people near the BishopsGate site, and without any requests to move or warnings, were charged by riot police, some with dogs. A couple of girls got trampled, and I got a shield to the neck. Now I'm not justifying any of what went on anywhere else, but all I saw was anger fuelled only by police aggresion.

I just found 3 quid while cleaning my room! Get IN!

This could be what we need to kick start economic recovery.

Damn there is a whole lot of dumb in this thread. Lets clear up a few points
The environment is not going to be saved. People a whole hell of a lot smarter then any of us (with the possibile excption of Tommy) have been studing this for longer then I have been alive, and most of them agree that we can do sweet fuck all to change thing now. Furthermore, even if it could be changed it would not be by wearing hemp, recycling, riding a bike or not taking showers. There are too many people, that is a fact, and some time soon alot of us are going to die, untill things reach a balance again.
nither protestes (peacefull or otherwise) poloticians, or any thing else is going to be the thing that changes the world. infact the world is not going to change, it may look slightly differnt, people with out penis might get to vote, and over here we might have a guy you could mistake as a black man if you where in a dark room as president, but really the world is still perty much the same it was 100 years ago as fars as distribution of welth, and general dirction of socety.
this was not a riot. Riots happen when people with out some pretentions pre-concived polotics express anger, or grife, in a mass and violent manner. Also riots envolve more then cans of stella being thrown around. generaly a riot will envolve fire.
bankers work hard and deserve to be payed a saler that is expected when they joined their indrustry. There is nothing wrong with having a good job or being well paid for it.
if you hit a cop, they are going to hit you back, this is not police burtality. If there is a massive crowd of you, and people start hitting cops, the cops are going to start hitting the crowd, this is also not police burtality. there are any number of other laws you should not break if you do not want the police to hit you. If you break these laws and the police hit you, its still not police burtality.
Police burtality happens when a group of cops attacks a sole unarramed person who may or may not have comited a minor crime. don't throw bottles and borads at the cops all day and then cry "burtality" when they knock you over with sheilds an hour later. The guy who was shot in my home town when the police kicked in his door beacuse he had a coke can, that is police brutality (it was the wrong door as well). Rodney King, police burtality. Any thing that happened to any one in the group today, not police burtality.
We have no idea who has died, if they where even a demonstraitor, if their death had anything to do with the demonstration, or if it was caused by a blow, and if it was if that blow was caused by the police.
capitalism and most of mordern tecnology are good things. the fact that the garbage dissapers form your streets, you can buy food around the corner, and the toilet in you house flushes are irrefutable proof of this.
What do you think would have happened? People would be forced to stop gambling on house prices and, shock horror, ordinary people would be able to buy a house again. People can't jet around the world 4 times a year on holiday. Or maybe the whole rotten banking system would go through a carthasis.
