  • C'mon Scott, have some faith! True, there is a general pattern as you say but people learn, it's what we do. We have to get it right at some point

  • i hope we do something, i mean have we seen the end of the peoples voice?

    People's voice? jesus.
who cares if it was middle class teenagers-they had something to lose in the first place. the rainbow cardiganed, hemp hatted, dreadlocked bongo players are just gonna go back to their squat and pretend the way of life wasnt a choice for them and that theyre effected by the crash. Riot police was an excellent call, you wouldnt expect to climb a lamp post on a normal day and not get beaten on.

  • police running on Vimeo

this was the funniest video for me

  • The Revolution will not be televised

The revolution will not be televised by Gil Scott Heron

  • Awesome song

  • A couple of points arising from those videos.

    1. Some really nice cameras and video cameras in the crowd suggests quite an affluent bunch.

    2. Why do hippys bother to bang drums and blow brass instruments when it is clear to behold that they don't have an ounce of musical talent between them?

  • Fucking cretins.
Shouting fuck the police clutching on to their brand new digital cameras and £1000 slrs. A communist rally sponsored sony and canon.

  • saw more cameras then i did protestors...

  • People's voice? jesus.

I climbed a traffic light that day a few years ago when they did the F1 thing in town, a copper came over and told me to get down, I argued with him a bit until he hit me in the back of the leg with his night-stick... Although that was hardly a 'normal' day.

this was the funniest video for me

It's funny hearing all these people shouting and swearing at the police who are just standing doing nothing. I say it's funny because I'd love to see them try that on any other day when they're not surrounded by hundreds of other people. That video really highlights how many people just went down to cause a little bit of bother because they knew they could get away with it.

"Yeah I've always been anti-police, anti-establishment me! Just last week I went down to those G20 protests and shouted, "Fuck tha police!" really loud at loads of policemen. Yeah I'm well 'ard."

  • Rode past Bishopsgate on the way home to see if I could, like, bash a copper. Its not a protest, its a fucking streetparty with drinking and dancing. Im going back with a few tins tonight for sure! Street party FTW!

Thats how i like my protests!

  • C'mon Scott, have some faith! True, there is a general pattern as you say but people learn, it's what we do. We have to get it right at some point

    Faith changes nothing.
Governments make the changes and always will...rioting and demonstrating only creates headlines.
If you want to beat the man....it takes EVERYONE coming together for the same thing....and everyone wants different things...and most don't have a clue what they actually want.
How many people there today even had a fucking clue what they were actually fighting for or how to achieve the end result they think they want?

    Keep your Faith.

  • if you sent 200 people marching down the street carrying empty billboards and chanting "down with them", you can bet your faith on it that a mile further down the road there will be 300 people chanting it.

  • Seems like a lot of photographers and cameramen waiting for it to kick off. Fuck that for a game of soldiers.

Apparently there is going to be a street party on the more peaceful side where the camp is on Bishopsgate tonight.

  • Fair nuff. I'm not saying that governments won't be in power, just that chances are there is a good way to run a country that hasn't been found yet. and want to be clear that I meant faith with a lower case f, nothing at all religious.

  • at least it was anice day out for all the 'anachic' university students

  • Faith changes nothing.

Good points but do remember that, with the credit crunch, a lot of kids are not getting gap years and need to do something different before settling down to humdrum lives.

  • there is a good way to run a country that hasn't been found yet.

And you won't find it on the end of a billboard, the front of a t-shirt, or spewing from the mouths of a few hundred rioters.
You can throw as many computers out of as many windows as you like...by the end of the day all you'll have is a lot of broken computers and a shitload of punctures!

  • at least it was anice day out for all the 'anachic' university students

Thanks mdizzle.. Daily Mail style student bashing :)

I prefer young people at least pretending they believe in something over vast swathes of apathetic idiots.

Who knows, one or two of those university students might actually think they can make a difference and god knows we don't want people thinking that would we?

  • For the record, I was there today and I knew why I was there: When the banks collapsed it was suddenly no problem to get hold of £600bn, just like that, however to get enough money together to eradicate poverty or invest in alternative energies takes centuries!

I am little bit surprised by all the student bashing on here. The police were real shits today. Totally needlessly aggravated the situation and all with a sense of smugness.

  • why not bash students....i would prefer it if instead of thinking they could make a difference they actually **did **make a difference.....

  • I prefer young people at least pretending they believe in something over vast swathes of apathetic idiots.

The Idiots are those who pretend to be fighting for a cause they actually don't give a shit about, not those who feel a cause isn't worth fighting for.

  • A..by the end of the day all you'll have is a lot of broken computers and a shitload of punctures!

Clearly orchestrated by the inner tube manufacturers comglomerate. Trying to keep the cyclists down. See Mouse's thread

  • The Idiots are those who pretend to be fighting for a cause they actually don't give a shit about, not those who feel a cause isn't worth fighting for.

    i agree

  • why not bash students....i would prefer it if instead of thinking they could make a difference they actually **did **make a difference.....

People don't make a positive difference without first thinking that they have the ability.

The Idiots are those who pretend to be fighting for a cause they actually don't give a shit about, not those who feel a cause isn't worth fighting for.

I didn't mean to characterise those students who go to rallys and demos as people pretending to believe in something and don't think I could simply throw that label in the direction of people I don't know. Who's to say that every single one of the people there today didn't believe entirely in what they were protesting about? Or even that they didn't know what they were protesting about?

I certainly wouldn't, I have no bloody idea what other people are thinking and no right to assume that I do know..
