  • Thanks for that. Definitely hit his head, didnt he.

  • Thanks for that. Definitely hit his head, didnt he.

Even prior to this new footage, lots of eye witness accounts were saying he had hit his head on the ground pretty hard. It's amazing that after a heavy fall like that the police stood and watched like a bunch of useless pricks - why not check he is ok ?

That the police were up to stuff like grabbing protesters and slamming their heads against police van doors put the attack on Tomlinson in some context.

  • Police lawyers have reportedly asked for a third post-mortem to be carried out on Ian Tomlinson's body.

A cynic I am, so of course I'm seeing this as a clear attempt to cast doubts on the second post-mortem, which makes a clear case for police action being the cause of death.

  • The results from the 3rd post-mortem have just been published, apparently Ian Tomlinson died from a mixture of television licence avoidance, racism and benefit cheating.

The police have asked for his body to be shot into space.

  • He did have one of those faces, he deserved it. Poilce officers gain a sixth sense for trouble makers like him, it was just police intuition kicking into action, like back in the good old days when the Police could do their job without having to answer to silly rules.

  • another prime Police / Intelligence cock-up:

  • On the channel 4 video, loved it when that guy blindsided that cop

    racistist

  • Does anyone know if anyone detained in this fashion previously (may day etc.) has attempted an unlawful dention action? I assume provision is made for it in the public order act.

Just to bring this up again, the Guardian are reporting that at least one and possibly two law firms are going to seek a judicial review against kettling:

Bindmans is also preparing to launch a legal challenge against the use of "kettling", the police tactic used to pen in 5,000 people during the G20 protests and a strategy which led to protesters suffering asthma and panic attacks. John Halford, a partner in Bindmans, said that the firm had held talks with Climate Camp legal advisers on Friday to prepare to launch a judicial review against the containment of protesters.

Halford said that "kettling" is legally justifiable only when there is no alternative to address actual or imminent violence. He said: "There is much to suggest that 'kettling' was the first thing resorted to as a response to a peaceful demonstration that was considered a nuisance by the police. Worse, many protesters have reported unprovoked baton charges and other forms of intimidation while they were penned in. We plan to ensure all of this is examined by the courts."

Tony Murphy of Bhatt Murphy solicitors also revealed that it was examining the possibility of launching a judicial review against police tactics during G20. He said: "We act for clients who were kettled, mass-arrested, blanket handcuffed and savagely attacked with riot gear, causing fractured limbs and lives. Our firm has been instructed to challenge this assault on protesters' fundamental freedoms in the courts."

  • Let's hope that at least some of the victims get some justice this time. It might in the longer term lead to more effective protest, the kind that people are happy to attend, so that there might be greater numbers, and the kind that can't be ignored (being an optimist here, of course, but I like being an optimist sometimes).

  • The saga still rumbles on ...

"I broke the law, pushed a police officer, and then he pushed me" these whinney rich kids have taken it a bit to far, if your "down for civil disobedience" then you know your are breaking the law, and you should accept the consequences prior to you action, whingeing about the logical consequences of a course of action after the fact just makes you a liberal pussy, who needs to man the fuck up.

Did Henry David Thoreau have a liberal media whinge when he didn't pay taxes to support the war? NO! He asked to be arrested because he had broken the law and that was the consequence. He would rather be incarcerated, then do something he found immoral, that is respectable. Contrast that with these so called "radical activists" who put their comfort first come off as nothing more then spoiled brats.

Newspaper vendor walking home is kicked and punched to the ground and dies from internal bleeding, officer involved has previously been reprimanded for misconduct.

Sure there are spoiled brats out there, but there is a much broader sweep to this subject, certainly more than your personal dislike of 'brats' and any desire to see them punished you might have.

which is why i referred specifically to articles about people who admit to breaking the law having a whinge about the standard police response to the laws they broke.

The fact that a seemingly unconcerned individual died near by is neither here nor there, to the facts of the above cases. It is an argument that will be used to sway emotion and disrupt the course of logic dealing with the facts of the case.

It "sucks hard" when you want to riot and the police get in the way, they totally should just let you "smash shit up" until your ready to go back to art school/ SOAS. The police protecting property, and trying to keep the peace is "totaly un-kewl". Maybe when you show off your "riot bruse" later you can "get laid" by a "crust girl".

  • you spat in my face just then chris!
