While we're on the subject, check this crazy shit out!!!! I knew Stevie could drum, but this is off the scale intense!!!! Drumming doesn't kick in for about 35 seconds, this blew my mind first time I saw it... What am I saying?!? It still blows my mind!!!

sorry for the slight hijack but my quest is now the same as the OP's so perhaps we could help each other out?
the band i was offering earlier (totally ignored you orrible lot) have now bailed on my friend's wedding in less than three weeks. as i hooked them up i feel kind of responsible and am also now desperately looking for a replacement band. i need a three or four piece to play at a wedding in rye (sussex) on April 18th. other than being non-cheesy, a bit different and keeping the usual mix of young and old happy they also need to be pretty much un-electrified as the venue is a posh hotel who don't allow amps and full drum kits.
any ideas?

nope, sorry.

so you had no luck either then? from the little research i've done so far most wedding bands make me want to spew. they all seem to be four bulging sweaty middle aged men in shiny shirts and a homely barmaid on vocals doing shania twain covers. so depressing. i wish deerhoof did weddings.

I would recommend Ingle and Rhode. They are not cheap though. But totally ethical.

*i'm still looking. i'm trying to find something a little different. maybe some rockabilly, bluegrass or whatever. it's got to be pretty much acoustic just not not not anything like the above. plus it's in less than three weeks and on the south coast (Rye) not london. it's a tricky remit i grant you. i've got a call in to some friends who do a kind of early rock n roll/skiffle type set. that could fit the bill quite nicely.
thanks anyway though.
and cheers damo. really appreciate it.
Mississippi Fred McDowell, one of the greats... I've been to pay my respects at his graveside, one of the last of the great old guys along with Furry Lewis and Son House... This clip is E-P-I-C!!
