Got iOS 4.0 on my 3G and it's running fine, just as quick as before the update if not quicker in some places.
Did a clean install instead of just updating the iPhone, also a hard reset once the new firmware was installed made it all nice and snappy.Jailbroken now too so I can use custom wallpaper, multitasking, and orientation lock, fuck you Mr Jobs!

reset eh? I should do that.
a bit ironic when Microsoft do the opposite instead of removing feature to make people get the new phone instead, like with the Zune, when the new Zune 2.0 came out, Microsoft release the full 2.0 software for the old one, and I mean full.
it's just captalism at it's finest.

+1 did he pose for that or was it 'from the hip' style?
He posed. I asked very nicely. Parliament looks several miles behind him, and yet he was right in front of it, at the entry gates. The illusion proffered by a very wide angle lens.

I've found a hard reset (holding power and home buttons for about 10 seconds) seem to sort most iPhone problems i've had.

Oh and another thing, remember iBooks? you can download it from the apps store.
biggest downside? for an electronic books, they're pretty expensive (George Orwell's 1984 priced at £6.99 when I can get it for £2 brand new).

Which store are you going to?

O2 shop in my local town, so I'm hoping there won't be THAT much interest (working class Northern lot, don't care much about phones)
They're already queuing outside the Regent Street store!

Fucking hell. That is sad.
I have one reserved at the apple store in Westfield. I have a meeting at 3 so i am going to rock up there around 10.30 hopefully most people will have fucked off by then.

Unfortunately I can't pre order with o2, or I would have done!
Ho hum. At least it's light at 4am this time of year. -

the Engadget iPhone 4 review makes it sound amazing:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/22/iphone-4-review/
They also mention they got 38 hours of usage time on it with a single charge!

i've had os4 for a couple of weeks (developer) and it's shocking on battery life, but only if you leave something running that's constantly polling the web for data. Like ed said, the multitasking is weak, but once apps have been updated with some new stuff to handle it properly, it should be sweet.

Got one!
It's as good as the reviews say. Can't wait to have a proper good fiddle with it on the train later on

I've been with most of the companies at various times and they all have their faults but IMHO Orange are cunts, no ifs, buts, maybes, just pure cuntyness.
"They're dead to me"
They said it was Orange policy not to do 14 day returns on monthly contracts (there was actually very very very very very fine print corresponding to it on the contract I signed).
I've got in contact with their main customer service dept. last week as the manager basically said it's his decision and he wasn't going to. -

Just went to the O2 shop in Wimbledon, there's like 25 people queuing.
I think I'll wait till says 1pm before I joined the queue.

still people waiting outside the 02 on Mare Street. does anyone know if you can buy them on pay as you go yet?
-
• #698
They're selling them for existing customer though (O2 that is).

There were easily 50 people queueing this morning when I left the o2 shop in St Helens. The store had 30 phones, 10 32gigs and 20 16gigs.
I was 5th in the queue, everyone infront of me had 32gig ones too. -

queueing for a new phone?
fuck a duck.
Very sluggish and it was already sluggish in the first place before the upgrade.
and half the apps don't function that well too.
battery life probably getting worse due to the 'eye candy' transition from apps to home screen, methinks it time to revert back to the original.
