  • Anyone watching the Danish dark drama The Rain on Netflix?

  • Cheap but complicated option is a raspberry pi with a TV tuner and something like MythTV.

Easier is something like a HDHomeRun and Plex.

Easier still is get a Humax tuner/recorder

(Personally I have Virgin TV which is an even better option in terms of ease of use and options but obviously needs installing first.)

  • You can buy a youview box, normally cheap second hand on ebay, gives you the ability to series record etc without subscription, and is pretty easy to use etc.

  • Danish dark drama

uh oh, this does not sound like easy going television

  • Yeah just started. I like the premise, I did not like the idiotic behaviour 10 minutes in. But I'm going to stick with it.

  • The 1st series is pretty enjoyable overall but it has the most god awful cliché ending, almost straight out of Austin Powers

  • But I'm going to stick with it.

Yeah me too for a while

  • Part of me wishes I'd started Dark. I am enjoying the aesthetics of it though, more than I thought I would.

    @IrPOWERranger 1,000,000 dollers?

  • Does anybody know when the Meet the Richardsons Christmas specials will air?

  • The Undoing.

the ending fucked me off more than that witless chess show.

if i had better things to do / places to be i'd be asking for my money back.

  • It wasn’t great was it.

  • Betamax

Now we're at my tech level.

    Me too!

Dogshit wasn't it. Kidman's botox'd acting, the sharkjump hammer find, the unnecessarily long and twee title music and plot holes.

    defence lawyer was good though!

  • She was!

And she is of my people.

    Somewhat.

  • man down
childish boorish humour but pretty funny and some good characters, including the great aunt with a no nonsense attitude to life

  • Watched The Red Shadows on C4 streaming over the last few days. Nothing groundbreaking but they show a propensity for character bumping off that rivals Game of Thrones. Quite enjoyed it.

  • The Expanse S5 is now on Amazon.

  • Industry on BBC, Ep1 promising. I have no idea about the realism of the characters and pressures portrayed, but my brother who does something within banking says it is or was probably quite accurate.

    On here?

I reckon the office work/politics/pressure bits are somewhat less ruthless than the reality, at least as it was in big firms pre-2008. I worked a few support roles including on a trading floor, in view of the 'C-suite' (yuk) offices. In real life, there was much more overnight working, more baseball bat brandishing, much longer shouting rages, more involuntary redundancies (and you'd be escorted straight from the HR interview to the street and handed your desk contents in a box), more intimidation and threats, and a few actual sociopaths.

I was not invited to the sex and drugs bits, so cannot confirm, but drug use was fairly evident in behaviour.

A specific example that comes to mind as chilling: I moved to a fund manager, where a team colleague told me in my second week (when I'd dragged myself in to an offsite with a streaming cold, and first agenda item was finding who to personally blame for a mistake the previous week) that the previous year he'd had a heart attack, was told by his doctor to take three months off work, actually took three weeks, and came back to find a pile of exactly three weeks work on his desk. Our manager did not assist in any way, during his absence or when he returned.

  • Gave up on The Rain when it turned a bit 'powers'.

Started Alice in Borderlands. Can't tell if I like it yet, sort of a soft 'Saw'.

  • Its more like Battle Royal than Saw. I enjoyed it.
I've gotten really in to Star Trek Discovery. Never watched ST before, maybe a film a while ago and always thought it was a bit shit.

  • I think this season's been a bit meh, too much touchy feely and a bit meandering...

  • On a different genre, Song Exploder is pretty interesting and we'll put together. Nice touch at the end of each episode they play in full the song that's the theme of the ep.
