  • Are you getting The Fourth Estate in the UK? The year at the New York Times after Trump gets in the White House... It's fantastic...

  • I've nearly finished watching a South Korean series called "I am not a robot".

It's a about a woman who has to pretend to be a highly advanced android due to a problem with the real highly advanced android and ends up spending lots of time with a rich young recluse who is allergic to human contact.

It turns out that although he's allergic to human contact he's not allergic to her, but she can't tell him she's a real woman because they've duped him into thinking she's a robot. Of course they then fall in love which really complicates things.

The music, outfits and product placement are all AMAZING.

  • where have you been watching this?

  • Luke Cage Season 2 has got off to a great start.

Fabulous soundtrack and Bushmaster is awesome.

Show-runner Cheo Hodari Coker notes that what is perhaps considered flabby narrative structure which meanders is because his work is more akin to Jazz music as opposed to a 3 minute pop song.
    He has a point

  • On BBC2, watched it last night, yes it was excellent.

Those poor reporters though, the job is so full on they don’t seem to have much of a life, but it’s also clear they love what they do

  • First nine hours on Singapore Airlines inflight (I'd already watched the one film I wanted to watch, couldn't face Fast and the Furious 17 or other dross and this looked intriguing), second half on newasiantv.co which has English subtitles and so far has proved reliable.

If you're interested in I am not a robot specifically I should probably warn you it's 16 hours long!

  • Wooohooo! coming to your torrentz 11/07/18

"Created by Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement, the show will be screened by TVNZ next month.
The six-episode, half-hour series is a mockumentary about the vampire film's police officers, Mike Minogue and Karen O'Leary."

  • ^thanks for the headsup, stuck it in sonarr so should come straight through when it airs.

  • nearly done rewatching the leftovers, it's so odd but so good.

also just got hold of all five seasons of The Wire for a rewatch as well. allmyfreetime/10

  • The Wire

    the what?

  • It's about Trap houses in baltimore. which I assume are special houses with high ceilings where people go to practice the trapeze and tightrope walking. I'm only on the first episode and they haven't got to that bit yet.

  • Has anyone watched Happy on Netflix? I still can't decide whether it's awful or a work of genius?

Just watched the final episode of Westworld which I truly enjoyed.

  • What’s not to like about a child’s imaginary blue unicorn friend getting if it’s tits on cocaine in the middle of a gun fight. Genius.

  • Mr Bug and the Wishees are fucked up, can’t wait for S2!

  • Handmaid's Tale S2 is hard going but gripping. EP 6 looks like shit going down...

  • Mega. Finally got round to watching What We Do In the Shadows last week. So much better than I anticipated. Waititi can do no wrong.

  • Luke Cage s02.

Overly long (all the netflix marvel serieseses are) and some shonky scriptwriting aside, this was easily my favourite NM show so far, mostly on account of the manner in which goofy, one dimensional and dated characters from the pages of the comic books are re-grounded and given a backstory that is relatable beyond 'they're here to be punched / provide some basic exposition'

Bushmaster is a proper mad bastard and possibly the best baddy the MCU has on its books right now.

And the theme tune is a toe tapper.

  • I chose Jessica Jones S02 to start last week - sounds like I chose the wrong one. It's a bit shit so far.

  • yeah it ain't faultless by any stretch, but the performances are top notch and the story arcs for each of the main characters are compelling enough to keep you turning the pages. and dat theme tune. it's the best thing curtis mayfield never recorded.

  • Barry (HBO). Just a brilliant first season, with a perfect finale. Top 3 TV of 2018 for me for sure.

Humorous, tense, well-acted. Would recommend it to everyone looking for a 30 minute dark comedy.

  • This looks really interesting:

Directed by the guy who did the good first season of True Detective...

  • I thought the same when I saw that trailer this morning.

  • I’ve tried reading an explanation of the ending of series 2 of Westworld but I think I’m still not any wiser. Am I just thick or is it actually a headfuck?

  • /\ headfuck. mutliple timelines i've heard - but i couldnt figure it out - decided not to waste my data allowance on watching it for 3rd time.................sigh......2nd season went a bit like "Lost" for me - some small plots stretched out amazingly long and trying to be clever with multiple time lines....
