  • I really, really wish I had a bath but shit little halls shower is the best I can do. Maybe I'll sit down. It would have been a little better if the fat chav that lives in my flat hadn't scoffed me protein bar stock.

In the absence of a bath, wrap up your legs and keep them as warm as is comfortable for about an hour.

Did the fat chave end up a little hyper but breathless. Ha ha. Next time, tell him they're a laxative and watch him panic every time he needs to fart.

Ironically excessive intake of sugar alcohols does have a laxative efffect, the warning is on the label of most awful protein bars lol.

  • Placebo effect, and the High GI carbs in them not to mention sugar-alcohols which are really bad for your health, trust me, lose the protein bars

If you're going to go down the proper health route then you want to ditch supplements all together. You want something that will work in conjunction with your digestive system, which means proper, minimally processed food. Certain studies have indicated that you may get a better response out of normal cooked food from raw ingredients than supplements, bars and shakes. The trick is supposed to be to preload and replenish properly.

Take a look at some of the older audax riders, they'll do more on a plate of beans on toast than a young club rider will on energy bars, gels and supplements. Besides, real food goes down better with beer than powerbars.

I never touch the stuff, as per upthread, I like my food to resemble something the the way it came out of the ground or can be knocked up at home in an oven.

  • well I have definitely lost all of them now, she tries to convince herself that she needs them for her workout video snigger
I will go out to holland and barratt and treat myself to some of the whey protein. @ crazyjames, what would you use on a (proper, long) ride?

  • htfu

    +1 push through the pain!

  • and eat lots of carbohydrates

  • I carry a lot of carbohydrates around with me, if you havent noticed!

  • you do kinda look like a ball of carbohydrates come to think of it

  • i'm sweet sweet sweet. lol.

we need to STOP with the rent boy thing.

  • what do you mean "we"

  • hmm

  • I've been suffering after riding @ Herne Hill on Saturday; lower back /buttocks going spaz if I was sitting still for more than a few minutes and nothing was helping.

Dr Google suggested it was actually my hamstrings (which weren't at all sore) causing the problem by tightening up/constricting and suggested isolated stretching which has begun to sort it right out.

+1 on recovery drinks after modertae/big efforts; even chocolate milk/hot chocolate does the job for me keeping that achey feeling developing in my legs.

Easy way to protect them. Coat the wrappers in itching powder and then convince her that she has an allergy.

  • not my really my creation. purely harry's fantasies projected on to me. should I be concerned?

    :p

I'm not that inventive. It gives me a reason to steal her orange juice anyway.
    with bits
these things mean a lot on my budget :p

A guy that I used to do audax with in advised me that chocolate milk was ideal to prevent any cramping. It contains a good balance of calcium, salts and sugars. As he's a paramedic I trust it as sound medical advice.

Good excuse to end a ride with a bottle of frijj before pie and a pint.

  • It's called the DOMS

    Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness

After exercise you need to stretch and then you'll need to HTFU

  • you do kinda look like a ball of carbohydrates come to think of it

  • who's been tagging this? lol

  • although I can guess..

I gotta do some work right now, but pop by trix later, or i'll put a post up later on this evening with some recommendations in this thread, it depends on several factors which I haven't got time to write a lengthy post about now.

  • You don't need feckin' protein shakes and drinks and bars and toss after a fucking bridges ride.

You've done something a bit different, you will be sore, eat something drink something carry on life like normal.

  • Ask Elguapo for a massage. No happy endings though
