  • Where are you mounting the battery? I've seen them mounted under the deck which looks pretty neat and ideal for low centre of gravity.

  • I'm not sure that's a great idea, it's surprisingly easy to scrape the bottom of the bike!

  • Going to mount the battery on the steerer tube.

  • Yeah I did think that, but with a 2 or 3mm metal box to encase the battery in, maybe that's not such a problem.

  • very cool, but could be difficult to take off when you need to charge?

  • That's a good solution actually! For some reason I'd pictured it sticking out a lot more than that.

  • Used to the bosch power packs? ;-)

  • I guess you would probably need the charging point close to where you store the bike and charge leaving the battery in situ.

  • It also looks so much cleaner! Minimal wiring for a front wheel drive too

  • Ha! I think that's what it is you know.

  • Guys, could you let me know if this motor and battery would be suitable for going electric on a cargo bike for child carrying purposes(eventually 2x), its a hilly city, Lausanne
what about warranty claims with amazon ? (i could get a motor+batt in a shop here but .... 1000 would go up to 1500.... it stings)

    home everybody doing fine!
    thx

  • Yes that will work fine for carrying kids on a cargo bike. Not sure how warranty issue work with that particular amazon seller though

  • I'd look at what Amazon's policy is, i know with some purchases you can buy an extended warranty.

  • Just ordered the Douze "ECO Box" & kids kit for the 800mm chassis.
Did not take the canopy as I thought 399€ was punchy.

Prices below for reference (incl. french VAT)

    [000326] Eco Box V2 800 - 390,00 €
    [000307] KIT Siège enfant Eco Box - 170,00 €
    [000309] Canopy 2020 Eco Box 4 places - 399,00 €
    [001545] Frais de livraison -54,00 €

  • Thx for the help! I am wondering if the motors are adjusted for wheel sizes, this link is stated wheel size 24" and I have seen others with 26" in the Amazon description... Does it make a difference?? I guess cassette and chainring are more important right??
    Thx

  • It makes a difference to the max speed assuming the speed sensor is placed on the wheel somewhere. But with the bafang kits you can kinda set it to whatever speed you want so not sure.

Maybe there are other considerations for the wheel size to consider with installation I don’t know!

  • New bike day

  • Woo, looks great!!

  • yee!! thy look happy!!

  • @Vince did you order this from France? Ideally we'd upgrade our 600mm front end with a 800mm, but Douze couldn't tell me how much or when they'd be looking to produce them.

Our boy is 8 and he still goes in it (minus cover) along with another 8 year old when we cycle 4.5miles to ParkRun on a Saturday morning.

Canopy is expensive, but try and make something like that yourself. They're useful not just for keeping kids dry (when does it ever rain in London these days I hear you cry!) but also for cramming in more stuff as it keeps everything "contained", but that €399 is punchy indeed!

Good luck with your new kit. Does this mean the alu box is getting retired?

  • Yes, ordered from France direct & delivered to France as well (I am going over next Tuesday for 2 weeks for the grape harvest).

Try to email carine@douze-cycles.com for a price request.

I will have space in the van to bring it back over to London on Friday 9th September, if that saves you any money.

And yes, the Alulock case & fitting kit will be retired!

  • Thanks for the contact. I did message Douze several times. No idea who responded as it was just from info@douze-cycles and signed off Your Douze-Cycles Team

Thanks so much for the kind offer to bring back any items for us. Don't think financially we're ready to spend a BIG chunk of cash for a new front end at the moment. Our boy still squishes in, it is just that come the winter time and (if!) it does rain then the canopy does cramp him up a bit as his head is touching the roof. The new one is a completely different design so has lots more headroom (overshoots the handlebars) but don't want to spend €399 on a canopy on a 600mm front-end when really we need to go to 800mm.

Dare I ask how the grapes have done this year? Heard lots of horror stories over lots of poor grape harvests amongst wine growers. Fingers crossed all goes well.

Guess you'll be putting the champagne in the Ecobox and not leaving the bike unattended for long! :O

  • The harvest in Champagne is looking promising this year so really looking forward to it!

I rarely do linked deliveries so have never left the bike alone with goods in so not an issue having the Ecobox.
