Question for Omnium peeps.. I have a Mini, with some awful cheapy mudguards that are falling to bits, what are the go-to-guards front and rear? And is there an easy solution to having a full length guard on the rear? The track ends make it a bit of a faff to get the wheel/on off! Cheers

You're going to have to disconnect the stays and/or reinstall your wheel with the tire deflated.

Yes, SKS Chromoplastic mudguards
with Secu-clip to pop off the stays during wheel removal. Normally these are fitted to the front mudguard, but can also be added to the rear -

Update!
Painted with 2k solid color with spraygun and 2k clearcoat from a rattlecan. Perfect result with dust, runs and uneven layers :) It looks good on the surfaces you actually see when you use the bike.
Not to nice paint is also good, then I don't feel bad if i scratch it.Hope that the paint dries enough so that I can bring it home in my car tomorrow!

Didn't even realise quick release guards existed 🤦♂️. How about the front?

https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/mudguards/sks-secu-clip-30mm-each/
As mentioned upthread. They were initially designed as an emergency break-away system if something were to get stuck in the front guard, but they can also be fitted at the rear.
The loop of the stay is a push fit into the clip, so can be popped out to pull the mudguard away from the frame to make wheel removal easier. -

The sidewall of my rear tyre decided to give in today.
I'm thinking I should get a new wider front tyre too (406). Would like to try and fit a 40mm in the back. I think a 2.1 or 2.2 front tyre could squeeze in under the mudguard.
Someone happy with their tyre combo? Matchy logos are.a.must.
I guess Maxxis do lots of bmx tyres. But don't know what to put on the rear. Would like something fast. This baby only sees dry and wet tarmac. Except for that occasional odd place one sometimes finds oneself. It has done single track. But I wouldn't account for any of that in my tyre choice.

Maxxis dth are tough and fast
If you want lighter, khe Ma2, the dirt option was a bit tougher and still insane fast rolling

Check out Tioga as well, I've got the Powerblocks on my mini velo, they're a little buzzy but roll pretty nice.

Second Powerblocks. Sticky and fast!
I have them on my Tradesman, ride about 400mi/mo in Seattle's shitty weather and have just now had to replace the rear after almost two years of daily commuting.
(Going to give a Maxxis DTH/Grifter combo a try soon though.)

Stock Omnium mudguard? My 2" Big Apple just about cleared in height but it nearly touched the bridge for the stays.
Have you discover the joys of re-radiusing yet?
-

Yes, stock omnium mudguards. We'll see what happens and what needs to be done. Not sure how re-radiusing plastic guards would work.
You have a 2" tyre in the back? Under the stock guards?

Conti Contact Speed 42-622 / Contact Urban 50-406 unless someone advices not to.

No, at the front. I quickly removed the original mudguard as it kept rubbing. I have 40mm steel ones now, which worked out well as the front was comically short for a 700c wheel, but now is fine for the current tyre as well as the correct width after radiusing.
