i borrowed my friends cargo bike to pick up a bike box this morning
it's quite windy here today so it was rather like sailing

I want a bullitt so bad.

I just need to sort out my insurance and scrap my car, then I'll have one. I'm planning an enclosed fibreglass box with windows for the kid...

Not having much luck hunting down a small Kona Ute frameset. Everthing thing else is 26" only, and I already have loads of 700c bits. Including a couple hundred squids worth of tyres. Poo.

I'd have thought a 700c would be pretty rare as 26" would be the sensible option ;)
~~adroit - has this aluminium frame thing that attaches to the rear of a bike to convert it into a cargo bike. I can't remember what they're called tho - I'll have a google. His is on an old mtb, but you may be able to use with a 700c - I really don't know.
Perhaps drop him a PM(?).~~
The problem is you then have to buy that plus a frameset... but a pomp could work, and
I don't know ifit is disc compatible.EDIT: wow - that's the fastest shit search term to hit ratio ever!

TBH I dont actually neeeeeed, a longtail. But I do need a new utility frame, saw the ute, and though......wow I could transplant everthing from my bike onto that. The cargo bike lust set in.
I'll stick with the Salsa Vaya plan. I can add all the same rack mounts, as I plan to on the fatbike, and have a utility bike for every terrain, and every condition.

Just went to Larryvsharry's store in Copenhagen to buy a Bullitt TNT, but they can't deliver until february/march. What they could deliver was a Bluebird or a Clockwork with Deore (the TNT has Deore XT) and aluminium bars, stem etc. instead of the carbon stuff like the TNT. I'm not sure if I want to settle for the lower end stuff, but the car is being scrapped this week and I need something to replace it... Decisions, decisions...

Deore isn't exactly lower end stuff, it still work brilliantly as the XT equative.
Put it this way, it's what I have on my tourer (fun fact - Deore were a touring bike groupset before people start using it on MTB).

If one is to beleive Wikipedia, it's the 7th lowest out of 11, but yeah it'll probably work just fine. I might go ask them to build one up for me, where I supply the groupset myself...

Err. Bu there will be a big difference build quality, weight, performance and looks so much snazzier! LX is now shimano's dedicated touring/trekking groupset. If you have the pennies go for XT, it'll be worth it.

Yes and get X9.

Never had any SRAM stuff, but that could be a solution. Pennies aren't a problem - The bike is a gift for some work I did for someone, so no point in not getting the best of the best...

SRAM XX then! Personally I would rate SRAM stuff above Shimano but perhaps go to a bike shop and test ride a bike with SRAM and one with Shimano. Quite a gift, obviously I'm in the wrong profession...

Is it really that big a difference? I managed to clock up 10,000 miles on the heavy duty tourer with the basic Deore stuff (V brake too), and honestly, it does exactly what it said on the tin.
sure it's lighter, it probably shif better and durable? could be, but it doesn't make the Deores anymore undesirable.

Depends on the amount of work I did ;) And @ed: I want lighter. Lighter is better. Especially when is free...

Not being undesirable is not the same as being desirable.

Good point, look how desirable this is;

The bullitt definitely beat the long john by a thousand miles thought...
My morning musings....
I need to replace my CX frame, as I've fecko'd the BB threads. I currently run low-riders, and a rear rack. Plus I cleverly used hubs with disc mounts, when I rebuilt my wheels. So a Kona sutra, Salsa vaya, etc. frameset would allow me to move everthing across, and upgrade the brakes.
Simple. But....
I reckon I could do the same with something like a Kona Ute frameset. Which got me all excited. But I could'nt find the frameset availible. Do you kind hearted folks have any suggestions or shops another frameset that would be an easy transplant patient.
a thousand thankyous.
....pops off to brows practiclecycles.
