  • The cnc ones are SP :)

  • Mange tak! Really enjoyed the "first ride" story on the site BTW.

  • Didn't we once discuss the handlebars for omnium, because you were looking for something with sweep that wouldn't shorten the reach of the cockpit?
I just stumbled upon these, which are wider than On One Marys

  • Been wanting something like this for my Bullit. I've swapped the straight bars to sweepy ones but my hands are now 5cm further back which I don't want. This'll solve this nicely

  • Lefty forks???

  • Image alone should sell it

  • Good spot. I like the Marys but the sweep angle is a little excesssive considering their relative limited width: they'll need to be an extra inch each end for my wrists to be at a natural angle. And that wouldn't solve the fact that half of the time my arms are straight anyway, so over the brake levers... Maybe I should find some cheap bar end levers and do my own version of the Koga Denham (which are an improved VO Crazy Bars).

  • What about alpkit knock off Jones bars?

  • They shorten your reach so much, I would need a 200mm stem...

  • Man, those Koga bars are expensive!
What about the Ritchey Kyote bars?
Wider but shouldn't shorten the reach like the Marys

  • These or even the Classic 10D could work. I have misplaced my money gun so I'm not in a rush!

  • misplaced my money gun

    Haha yea, shit me too

  • Little bit overdue, but there’s passenger bars on the XC now.

Had to get the seatpost out, cut a piece off a shim, fit the jumbo 140 Forgie from PX, cut down old (possibly Marin) handlebars - 65mm off each end - and squeeze them DMR’s over the ends.

Passenger isn’t due a visit for at least a month so won’t know how they fit her, but the position of the bars makes the bike much easier to lift over the step into the shed. Probably make it easier to strap some awkward shapes to the seat, too.

  • Looks good, grippy grips are great.

  • Have my eye on one of these, a Finnish 24" wheel delivery bike with integrated F&R racks.

  • Looks a bit shit and interesting at the same time.
Tried to find that on the site where that image is from and didn't, but instead stumbled across this mini Specialised which I thought was very cute -

  • Hah! Well i expect it's a bit shit but at £150 i can afford to gamble. If it isn't total shit I might stick an e-motor on it. And a flame thrower + amplifiers etc obvs

  • Can’t really see what that nets you over a normal bike with beefy front and rear racks. I think I’d be inclined to go with the latter tbh.

  • Finally put different cranks and a front mech on the cargo. I wanted something like 43/34, but it turns out all my road cranksets are all wrong.

The one with the 42 tooth little ring (and 53 tooth big ring) was a different BCD to the set with a 34 tooth little ring. So I used this spare Sakae crankset. At least it allowed me to keep the square taper bb for now.

The Deore XT mtb 3x shifter seems to work okay with the Suntour road front mech. No trimming, but at least it’s working.

It’s 42/39 or something, so barely any difference between the two rings, but it should give me a tiny bit of benefit uphill. Maybe in the future I change it, but I have been surviving okay with the 42t single ring, so this is just to get a different crankset and make use of some parts.

Gotta go fix a mate’s bike shortly so will test and dial in the shifter then.

The band on adapter isn’t perfect but it works. Probably replace all parts in the future.

  • have you seen the Elephant bike? They are reconditioned ex-royal mail bikes. Similar sort of thing (but with front basket mounted to frame instead of forks). A bit more money though

  • Good shout although I've already had my offer accepted on the one above. Maybe more OG fbnpna than cargo. Planning to fit a largeish box front and rear, see how it works.

  • Noice, look forward to seeing it in action :)
