  • Some of my favorite Scwhinn Cycletrucks

Would love to drive around town on that yellow one for a while!

  • That puts the practical into porn.

  • I have a bmx waiting for this treatment, but came across the xtrabike before contacting welders.

  • Holy headtube!

  • Same here...

  • That puts the practical into porn.

  • Cargo BMX, @pdlouche would be all over that one

    Edit: Ah shit, page fail.

  • You’re the 8th comment on this page 4 me

  • 24th for me

  • Yarp. Still want to get one built. Thinking to use the heavy 4130 Huffy.

  • Just meant I didn't see this comment as it was on a new page for me. Pages change depending on whether or not you've got people blocked, I just hadn't caught up with the thread

  • That'd be cool, do it. Probably tough enough

  • that vulgar head tube with the ugly stack for starters.

Ridden many cycletrucks? 44mm headtubes are a thing if you want to carry more than 25kg of stuff without the front end going springy on you. Likewise, a fairly upright riding position is needed to keep any sort of control past that point.

  • Weird one.

I was just saying it's not exactly porn. It may be very functional but one might solve the functionality in a more aethetically pleasing way.

  • Weird one.

    Haha, love it!

  • I wouldn't have much confidence in that brake

  • It may be very functional but one might solve the functionality in a more aethetically pleasing way.

I'd argue that appreciating the aesthetics of something like a 44mm heattube is tied to appreciating what it does functionally. If you don't know what it does, it might looks off to you.

Owning a cycletruck with a standard headtube that I load up regularly, seeing a 44mm headtube definitely gets my upper lip sweaty.

But at the end the day: This is all me just criticizing your personal aesthetic tastes while trying to hide my insecurity that a stranger online doesn't like the things I think are cool, so take all that with a grain of salt.

  • Made by the guy that made my lemon. The guy is very honest, but I can’t say I’d recommend someone his welds. Told me he never had a weld fail before, and yet that’s what happened to the boxbike style frame he made me. That one looks a lot better built, maybe he has improved.

  • it does look verrrry DIY
the load looks much higher than a normal omnium too

  • And that bottom tube really could have done with being made out of one tube with a hole in it, rather than two tubes which aren’t even straight.

  • Looks like it'll pedal strike like a bastard on the slightest of turns

  • The guy was a really nice guy, an oldboy pensioner. No disrespect to him, and I think he really does try his best. He has made a load of bikes since retiring, but he is certainly not a framebuilder per se.

  • One for the weight-weenie Omnium owners: carbon steerer with cut-out stem to hold the steering rod.
