Haven't seen those guys shifting around a load of passengers (perhaps unsurprisingly), but they seem to be busy with other bits.

Now these are a bit ugly.

@Jon.
I guess so, but still stand by my comment. Both offer similar performance and load area etc. The handling on the Douze is far more neutral and makes tight manoeuvres possible vs. track road steering which is great for filtering when the traffic is really built up. For a family bike the Douze has superior canopy, seat & harnesses vs. the Bullitt. The Bullitt's have been around 10 years+ (from memory) so are very well established and you get lots of options regarding configurations, plus they are slightly cheaper than the Douze which are a lot newer. They have a more aggressive position than the Douze and are stiffer, but that position is soon compromised if you have a kids canopy fitted to prevent the handlebars hitting it.
If it wasn't for my wife hating the handling on the Bullitt I would have bought one in an instant, but I have fallen for the Douze in terms of handling & manoeuvrability.

Know a guy who has one in Chiswick to cart his x2 kids around. He loves it. It's L O N G but rides well, especially with the e-assist. Agree with @Rubbish&Mattresses as they look do look ugly/engineered rather than designed. An example of this are the rigid side panels being held together by a ratchet strap, looks like a bit of bodge but actually works well...

This week I saw three people here in Adelaide with Bullits, two of them carrying children.
On both the box looked smaller than the one on the Douze. None of them had a canopy on. One was a self-built wooden number, the other one looked made for purpose. In both of them the kid sat rear-facing, and there was deffo no room for a second kid sitting on the same side.
I got chatting with one of them, and he said he hadn't serviced the bike for too long, now all the drive train and brakes were chewed up. It XT or Sora or something like that.
The third guy was the coolest deliveroo guy I've ever seen with a sturdy looking metal box on it.
Other notable spot was an awesome electric assist Butchers&Bicycles trike, which looked the biz, but would've cost north of AUD 10k easy.
Every time I see someone with a cargo bike it's like a little party. DAS kindo thing, a wink or a full on wave fest if there's kids in the front. Love it.
And every time I ride it, without fail, someone will ask where I got it from, how much it was etc.

The Bullitt Canopy actually widens out the space using steel bars to extend outwards and fill the gaps with nylon sheet/padding. Conversely the box sides Bullitt sell fit inside the platform frame and have the opposite effect.

Oh yes, i see. I like the low entry as well. Does it lend itself to lugging other cargo without removing the canopy?

The foldable seat looks awesome!

Another Douze in Berlin..
..colour didn't look as shit in real life to be honest.. -

I was riding this today at work (in Leeds, not Manchester). Managed to accidentally wheelie it going up a steep hill and nearly shit myself. Had to put all my body weight over the handlebars to avoid tipping over backwards! Obviously had too much weight high up and behind the rear wheels. Don't really get that issue with the Bullitts.

You obviously need to hang some shopping bags with brick in them over the handlebars.

• #1464
I feel so dumb for not thinking of that.

You're welcome!

Probably the most impressive thing I’ve seen anyone do on a cargo bike, this guy smashing it over the cobbles at Paris Roubaix yesterday
-
• #1467
Love how everyone else in the photo looks like they ate the cargo bike pilot’s weight in croissants and butter at breakfast.

haha

I don’t get that. If you’re there and riding the Roubaix sportive or whatever, you’re obviously quite big into cycling. It’s not a common thing for novices to enter.
So if they cycle so much, how are they still so fat?
I eat like shit, riding every day is the only thing keeping me lean. -

Not that any of those fellas are huge or being bigger is a terrible thing. I just wonder how such intense exercise doesn’t have more effect.
-
• #1471
They all look older than cargo dude...

• #1472
Lots of people get fat when they turn old. Maybe even more people get fat before they get into cycling

I wish I could understand, in the extended group we rode in, there were 3/4 guys who were easily 18st+ with serious bellies, however they hardly broke a sweat and finished the 145km route in well under 7 hours (total time including breaks). They also smash triathlons in their spare time
My guess is that they just drink too much beer for any level of exercise to make a difference.
Fair play to them though, I wouldn't have been able to do the ride carrying an extra 5 stone with me!
Thank you for your feedback!
