  • Can you share that throttle —> light hack? Thanks

  • Sounds exactly what I feel we need to do. I want an analog bike and don't care about torque sensors and have no interest in bolting some horrible aftermarket mid drive on our bike, the Alfine hub feels horrible enough on it's own! Will get looking. Light hack sounds interesting too! I see @MCamb has already asked about this. Thanks for the info and sharing your experience.

  • Have not actually had time to wire this up but have all the parts on my desk lol

  • I Actually have a front drive on the other one with the fancier torque sensor bottom bracket and its fine but so is the version without, bafang middrive is great in a always at least pas1 usecase.

  • Clever! Big miss for Swytch to not add a port for lights, if anything it’s another upsell if they rebrand a set of lights to sell themselves .

  • I might be losing my Bullitt storage soon because of life stuff. Hence I’m contemplating a smaller footprint cargo bike for a toddler such as the Tern GSD or whatnot.

The thing I love about the Bullitt is the canopy and snooze space- meaning the little one can be tucked up warm and dry whilst we’re bombing about.

Are there any good reclining seats and canopy options for the Tern type bikes?

And finally, any reccomendations for cheaper brands than Tern?

    Thanks!

  • My Bullitt chain has stretched and is a bit slack.

I don't have a bike stand. Any tips on how to move the rear wheel back a bit in the dropouts so the chain is taut? Thanks.

  • We had a hamax caress on the GSD before it got stolen

Was great, my kid is 4 but small, she was on the verge of growing out of it

You wont want to hear this but just in terms of diff between a long tail and long john the ride feel is night and day, had a bullitt in the past, then GSD and now a Load 60. Long johns ride so much nicer, much more stable. If you get a stormbox on the tern with kid so high up in the wind its quite unsettling feeling and esp if they are moving.

We bought the GSD for sharing as Bullitt standover was too tall for my partner.

  • Could you roll it on it's side?

  • Brick under each foot of the kickstand and some weight in the front

  • Cheers, all sorted.

  • Not much hauling recently, the Bullitt mostly takes me to the beer stall on the market currently. Thought my torque sensor was fucked but it was just a dodgy cable pin. Thank fuck.

it, vs the one I told it not to worry about

  • That reminds me of a helpful technique for changing inner tubes on the rear of an Urban Arrow that MCamb mentioned once. If you take the front wheel off first and pop it on the stand, you can tip the whole bike far enough forwards to get the back wheel out. It works well on a UA, I can't see why it wouldn't on a Bullitt!

  • I currently store my GSD out the back of my house, there are two gates down the side alley which makes it more secure and hide the fact the bike is back there, but are a bit of a bollox to navigate 4 times a day. Some work planned for the back of the house will also take away my current storage options. ms_com has bought into the idea of an Asgard for out front.

I would bolt this to the floor and also put in a ground anchor. But, the only reason I'm not firing the money gun is that I'm worried it would just provide more of a target. What do?

  • Not a popular opinion in the UK but while canopies are handy they are definitely not a necessity. Dress your kids for the weather, they'll be fine.

  • Maybe not a “must have” but man is it soooooo much easier. Quality of life hack.

  • And I am always a bit jealous when I see the guy with the urban arrow with that windshield.

  • Asgards are so ubiquitous, I don’t think it’ll draw particularly large attention. It’ll be solid if bolted down and an extra ground anchor. Put a sensor alarm in there as well and I think you’ll be fine.

We ended up buying a Brighton Bike shed for the front as it was more attractive and subtle with a green roof.

  • Having impulse bought a Rohloff hub yesterday is it going to be world changing on a longtail cargo bike versus an shimano igh?

  • I've got a R&M Transporter 65.

Can I mod in my own second battery?

We're thinking about heading over to the Netherlands for a week and I want to do some long days with the little one and luggage so need the range. I guess I could just carry a second battery and swap it out but would prefer having it manage range properly.

  • Probably not world changing but they are great!

  • Loving the colour scheme on the Bullitt

  • Always wanted one as heard amazing things about them. AND for the price, I'd hope so! Currently running Alfine 8 which I have a love/hate relationship with. On 2nd hub in 6 years. Wanted to get Alfine 9, but read too many stories about fragility.

  • Can I mod in my own second battery?

I am literally thinking about this. With Load 60, all I need is the mount that R&M has which I asked Fully Charged if they will sell and they said R&M is usually reluctant to sell 'aftermarket' parts for dual batt unless you bought the bike in that config.

Once you have a mount then all you need is this: https://www.ebike24.com/blog/bosch-dualbattery-compatibility-installation

  • you can almost see it in this image the 'plate' on which the battery goes, someone with some design and CNC expertise can easily make that:

perhaps @user75580 can post the pic without the battery to see this better.
