  • Battery is ok like this but it’s suboptimal - sits closer to the wheel than I would like and doesn’t leave much space to fit a mudflap when you consider the extra space needed to remove the battery. Cables aren’t long enough to reach down to the motor either, so will need to extend.

  • Sorry to hear this. Most cargo bikes don't really get as much attention as regular bikes and ebike. But the thief's have realised market for gsd is strong.
Have heard of a few been sold locally (uk), but most go overseas quite quickly along with higher end road and mtb.
In Denmark, Netherlands and Germany a shocking amount of stolen cargo end up in Romania and Bulgaria, usually within 2 - 6 weeks of theft.
Taking a battery off usually helps reduce risk but it is a problem that's hot much much worse in Uk since c19

  • Anyone want a Hamax Caress rack mount (with both keys) for £50?

  • I went to the tip today.

  • The brake hose "banjo" is made to be oriented... :)

  • Yes me potentially. Let me google whether it will fit. I'm assuming rack mounted?

  • For clarity, it's the whole seat with the rack mount. Not just the mount.

  • Some extra red reflective stickers on the side and back.

  • Let me go and find the specs of that and my bike.

  • Has this been posted? Dahon launching a “folding” (more like shrinking) E-cargo bike.

Apologies for non Apple users, but clicking on the link should redirect you to Cycling magazine

  • folding” (more like shrinking) E-cargo bike.

Looks ok but cargo bikes with fold up rear isn't exactly new.

  • From the dimensions on the dahon site the bike is no wider when folded, i.e. the rear wheel doesn't stick out.

I think that is a pretty nice design for some people.

  • Do folding gumwalls exist in 700c/20inch ? Paselas seem the closest but only in wire bead and only 1.5 inch

  • g one speeds? but also only up to 1.5

  • Maybe not, but I’d not come across them before and thought it interesting that dahon had an option. I’d only seen Omnium/R&M/Bullit/Cristiana type front loaders before and you definitely need more space for those than a “normal” bike no matter what they claim. Thought it was quite neat and may make it more appealing for some who don’t have a garage/garden/shed but do have a corner of a room, or even simply putting it in a lift to take into into your flat if there’s no good outside bike parking

  • Shore i totally get that, and it seems like a cool thing. The front steering is pretty interesting looking. Just seems companies always trying to resell old ideas as new. I live in a flat with outside bike parking and unless you live ground floor forget bringing it in. We even have indoor bike room in the basement but its just too mich trouble for the cargo bikes. We have good covers chain the cargo bikes together. Means some extra maintenance but we use them in all weather so that’s unavailable.

  • That's it. My Enviolo hub has broken. Can't get bike to shop where I bought it unless I push it the ten miles to Camden. Could get direct replacement, build up the wheel etc but have lost faith in Enviolo (this is the third one - now out of warranty). If I went for a Rohloff how do I find out which version I need & what ancilliary parts?

  • which era of Urban arrow do you have again?

  • It's a 2019. Thought through the logistics & I'll be without it for too long if I change to Rohloff so I'm dropping back wheel off on Wed morning, should be ready pm.

Here's hoping the new style Enviolo HD hub is actually HD!

  • Well it’s taken me fucking ages to fashion a basic battery bracket, but I guess that’s testament to life with two kids and a job. Anyway, it’s done now. Next job, installing the motor. Check back in 3 months time.

Much better mounting the battery this way around, as key access isn’t impeded by the rear seat and bags, and I don’t need to be able to push the battery back towards the wheel to remove it, so I can put a sheet of something right up against it to protect it from mud spray.
