Yeah, that. It's not an upgrade really, more a different wheel choice.
-
• #953
well in that case is better to save the money and the weight right? I run an (ugly) wheelcover
-
• #954
For 26 the consensus seems to be that 48 is overkill.

• #955
Save your money, dude.

• #956
Wheelcovers never need to be trued.

• #957
Mine needs replacing but I like all it's stickers.

Get a new set of wheelcovers and decorate them to match the frame.

I might finally replace mine after sourcing some NOS timecat stickers...

NOS timecat stickers?!? So want.
-
• #962
save your money, 48's are also a bitch to keep tensioned.
-
• #963
imo no.

No worries about spokes.. just come and play onece even if you ride 32
-
• #965
Taken a wheel appart to rebuild, only after removing the rim did I realise tha I can't get the spokes off without removing the centerlock disc brake... Which is on so tight I can't loosen it without the rim that would normally be attached!
Is there an easy way round this or am I going to have to rebuild the wheel to get the disc off and then dismantle again?!

• #966
Lulz. You got access to a vice?
-
• #967
strapwrench?
-
• #968
I do want a strap wrench, this isn't the first time it would have come in useful... But attaching the rim to the spokes that I can't get out will probably be easy enough!
-
• #969
Yup six spokes was enough leverage. Thanks for the suggestions.

What tyre pressures do people run? Different front and rear? Different wet and dry?
I'm thinking maybe the 100psi i run is too hard for the front making it a bit sketchy cornering at speed. Any thoughts?
-
• #971
I ran about 90psi front and rear with a set of new 32c Ribmo's yesterday. It felt pretty nice, cornered well in the wet and was a comfortable ride home too.
The 28c Maxxis Refuse I had on before were usually at about 100psi but always felt a bit harsh.

• #972
90 max, 80ish if really wet

• #973
Somewhere between "I should pump up my tyres" and Presses with thumb ""That seems about right".
-
• #974
10 under max at the rear, 10 less at the front. There is a proper way to figure out what's best based on the weight of you and the bike and the tyre size but that's for road riding, probably still counts for polo though.

What he said.
Most people say it's not needed, not for strength purposes anyway. If you find balls going through your wheels, pop a wheel cover on. But someone more knowledgable could probably tell you more.
