You are lucky there's no nerg, cause I would have totally savaged you with a -1 to your imaginary now non existent web points...

I'm after a single speed disk hub. Something cheap. Any recommendations? Anyone got anything they want to sell?
-
• #1054
Screw-on or mini cassette?
-
• #1055
Screw on ideally. Never really had much experience with cassettes. Rebuilt and serviced loads of freewheels.
-
• #1056
DMR does one for 50 quid. Just make sure you do not buy the one for mini freewheel.

That's what I've had on those 4 year old wheels without any problems, a touch weighty but tough and good value if they keep lasting. Or the Paul hubs I built up for Arthur the other day were lovely, although I imagine they don't quite fit the cheap requirement.

Arthur's gone all out!

what type of tyres do you prefer for 26? 1.1 or 1.35?
-
• #1060
1.25.
-
• #1061
1.1 will put your bb closer to the ground. I prefer 1.35 as I'm prone to hitting the front wheel with my mallet and it gives the rim more protection than skinnier tyres.

I'm prone to hitting the front wheel with my mallet
Don't do that then.
-
• #1063
I'm prone to not getting every shot on target, does this "don't do that" method work equally as well for this?
-
• #1064
You're not damaging your wheels when you do that, are you?
-
• #1065
With the extra rubber I'm not either!!
-
• #1066
If I'm really off target.
-
• #1067
Has Arthur got his bike yet?
-
• #1068
Yeah, it's nice.
-
• #1069
Yeah nice ride artur

It's so big we couldn't get far enough away from it for decent pics.

The 700c models yes, 26" are still tried and tested imo.
-
• #1073
Obviously NoBS size matters.

Those 5 quid rims from SJS Cycles are sold out, some guy bought the remaining 40 of them some months ago. That said, the do still stock some Sun 48h rims at 35 quid a pop.

Yeah. NoBS have had some issues, but what rim hasn't (that you can buy). I'm riding 700 NoBS at the moment, and they've been fine (given my taco record last year), beyond that one spoke ripped through the rim.
Would I buy them again? Probably not, if there was a decent alternative. But they are ok.
I hear rumours of a possible Fixcraft rim, but probably a year away.
^hah!
