I would hope that if one good thing happens from her life and death, and the shameful way they have been exploited and exposed, it would be the quick and total demise of the reality tv star and the instant celebrity. If fame and wealth were once again only awarded to those with talent the world would be a much better place.
Sadly I know it's never going to happen. The cult of celebrity is a curse that will blight our lives.

I hope those that see the mixed re-action to all this think twice (and Ray from dancing on ice is next*)- joke

Peeps who get their knickers in a twist about Jade Goody need to take a long hard look at themselves.
If you are sick of the exposure she has received then turn your telly and computer off and go for a walk. Shit, why not a bike ride? Don't buy a red-top/express/mail for the next week either. It's pretty easy really. There's coverage galore because some people are really interested in this, perhaps not most of you but we are not all alike, thank fuck eh?

I find it sad someones death could have so little effect on so many people, in fact it so quickly became a joke shows half the public finds it funny and have already ran out of patience.
i have never experienced that before, ever! i heard today and my first thought was - fuck me here goes her head all over the news for the next week!
I didn't feel in any way sad or sorry, i actually felt more when i heard Fred West had died. no joke.
Does she really deserve the headlines she gets? Nick has it spot on - there is so much going on around the world that is really news worthy. Give me 5 minutes and i'll find over 100 people who died in more tragic circumstances and deserve sympathy.
She spent the rest of her life selling her self out, i wouldn't be surprised if the funeral has photography rights sold alreay, she left without any dignity and the only sad part is she was the figure head of everything that is wrong with our celebrity obsessed society so took the brunt, and was stupid enough to allow it to happen.Princess Di, right?

The fact many celebrities will shamelessly whore themselves to remain in the public eye is simply the human condition taken to the extreme.
I know it's a hackneyed issue, but the fact that so many people continue to demand this tat is a far more worrying indictment on our society.

- She was 27
- She died a painful death
- She leaves 2 small children
Do I need to go on..
She was Rascist. Isn't everyone..a little-bit? She was fat? Wtf. She was a nobody? Who isn't? She was annoying? Again who isn't? She went on Big Brother. What does that have to do with anything? Have some fucking empathy.
I have empathy, I have empathy towards the child I saw left on the side of the road to die. I have empathy towards the children I saw put into institutions because they were deaf or disabled and got beaten daily by their minders and never see their parents again or recieve an explination as to why. I have empathy towards the man I met on the street who was holding two bleeding stumps where his hands used to be, just because he had stolen some food to feed his family and happened to steal from the wrong family. I have empathy towards people who deserve it. I dont have enough empathy in my body to spare any for someone who has single handidly made children believe that they are good people if they imitate Jade Goody.

It's the reason why monthly mags are folding and the weekly's are thriving. 'Thriving' being the operative word. Fodder for the masses of this country that crave their weekly fix of waffle

i've got absolutely no love for the cult of worthless celebrity, and jade goody is definitely not a role model, but that doesn't mean it's right to spit hatred at someone who's just died. i found the coverage of her illness and death to be completely ghoulish, but for fuck's sake she died! it wasn't a publicity stunt! complaining about talentless celebrity culture is not a reason to express your joy that "the bitch can go to hell".
sure there is plenty of 'worthy' tragedy in the world that goes unnoticed, but there is a limit to how much tragedy people can deal with. the reality that plenty of innocent children somewhere are dying an agonisingly lonely and frightening death from a horrible disease isn't a reason not to empathise with jade's family - it's not a zero-sum game. it would be great if no more kids died of leukaemia, if no more good people were hit by lorries or struck by lightning, but you can't take your frustration about the unfairness of it all on jade goody.
maybe we could do more to reduce human suffering, and maybe meaningless celebrity is a distraction from nobler pursuits, but there are people who knew a young woman who died, whose lives have been turned upside down this weekend, and it's not right to twist the knife.
