I was in Sainsbury's today and I watched someone buying a tast the difference pack of tomatoes, some antipasto AND some fresh pasta.
Fine but what really pissed me off was that they ALSO had a GU pudding. Clearly they can't cook for shit are just buying in their posh deserts. Now this really makes me sick. People with real cooking talent would never buy a GU pudding. They are just throwing money at the problem of their lack of talent.FuckingFakenchiefs.

What's a GU pudding? Is this a euphemism?

The worst thing about golf - and there are many bad things - is the attitude that pervades all golf clubs.
Suburban England at its very worst.
Very true.
It also allows white middle aged, middle classed men to dress up like Huggy Bear, which is not a good look.

Get you're facts straight before you go spouting diatribe like this.*
Has the ISP on the 595 cracked yet? ;)
Was chatting with a Colnago C50 owner today. Has 6 other bikes including 3 Ti efforts. Doesn't race, just rides sportives. real shocker.... a NICE fellow -

I'm an accountant, and I own 2 Colnagos. I regard myself fortunate to have the resources to own and enjoy them, but would not apologise for the fact.
If expensive bikes is what it takes to get people out of their Range Rovers, Porsches, and other fancy cars, and to experience what it is like to be a cyclist in London (road rage mini cabs, tipper lorries, mobile phone using black cabs, potholes) surely their bike time will make them more considerate and connected drivers when they get back in their motors, and thus make the hard core cyclists lives that little bit easier?

This thread does make me anxious, if I'm honest.
I don't have a £3k bike, but I am conscious of the fact I'm not a natural road rider, having ridden DH and BMX all my life. I want to do some structured training over the summer to get a base level of fitness so I can do some of Oliver's overnighters, but don't like the idea of being 'judged' just because my CSC jersey fits more snugly than it should, and I don't like lycra shorts.
Seriously - there's nothing harder than taking a step into a world where you feel like you don't fit in, and everyone's fitter, faster and riding more expensive bikes than you.
I don't know whether I've got a point to make here, but at the end of the day, if a Colnago is a good way of feeling better about yourself, then hey, buy a Colnago.

Very elegantly put, Mooks.

Mooks, it's jealousy, pure and simple. Do what you want to and ignore the pricks...

This should be resolved in a good ole-fashioned brawl. Fatties against Skinnys.

I think it was Merckx who said; 'ride more'. He also said; 'it never gets easier, you just get faster', but that could have been Lemond.
Either way what I'm trying to say is simply this; if you want to ride longer distances you just have to ride longer distances.
I haven't done an Oliver over-nighter yet but I wouldn't worry about feeling unfit. From the sounds of it they tend to be at a comfortable pace for everyone.
At the end of the day if no one is racing and you've got 90km to do in a group you'll be keeping everyone together. It's also a lot, lot easier to ride in groups as you can let people drag you along if you don't feel hot enough to pace the group.

i wouldn't begrudge anyone the right to own a nice bike :) i buy the best bike i can afford and that i like the most, and i expect other people to do the same. if that means a fat accountant on a colnago (not plagiarist though) then that's a lucky fat accountant.
and yes, i am jealous of people with kick-arse bikes!
