  • well if any of you are ever down essex way one of the best curry houses around is sharod indian restaurant in barkingside, its not too far from east london at all (about 8-9 miles from Shoreditch) i'd be well up for arranging a trip down sometime if anyone else is? I know the guys there really well, been going there for about 8 years before I moved to London recently, they even have their own facebook appreciation group :).

  • This thread should be renamed to "Curry Appreciation - the smell, the taste the texture... and some previous bollocks"

  • that would make it one of the hottest threads around...

  • Thi Green Curry at the Prince of Wales in Highgate is awsome.

haha a massive +1 to that, PM to David anyone?

  • Ganapati behind Peckham Rye train station is pretty amazing.. The head chef is an English lady who moved to India years ago and married an Indian man. She learnt how to cook from his mother/aunts/etc and came back here with him to start a restaurant. It's a bit more up market than your average Indian restaurant though.

The Safa on Camberwell green is also very nice, decent value and they even deliver which surprised me.

Dulwich Tandoori is probably the one I'd go to most though.. The service is great and the food is generally very solid. They even have an all you can eat buffet on sundays for £7 I think

+1 on the Ganapati, a lot of people have recommended this place.

When I lived in Camberwell we used to get takeaways from 'The New Dewarniam' but then it went very greasy and oily, not pleasant.

Then found out about a place called Gousia based on Norwood Road, Herne Hill. Last time I ordered it was pretty darn good, you could order online and delivery was always pretty snappy.

Dulwich Tandoori's all you can eat is a goodun too.

I find is so strange that there is such iconic pub grub in this country, Bangers and Mash, Pie and Peas and so on, and so many pubs have Thai food. Its so random.

It is a real old mans pub with some fantastic real ales. Finding Thai food there is strainge but it is pretty cheap and really good.

Hmm Gousia is great. I had a £40 massive two day curry fest from them last month.

  • has tayyabs been mentioned yet? ribs and dry meat ftw!cheap as chips as well.

  • Wake up livingasleep... We've worked our way down Commercial road already.

i had that a few months back on a monday night and they put old roast potatoes in the dish. i shit you not. put me right off.

Bengal Spice is the best in North Laaandan, no colourings and great flavours

  • Goan food can be excellent.

Great idea! Ride to essex, eat curry, drink beer, ride back. Sounds like a wicked night. I'm in.

  • @Andy

1 out of 3 - so its not bad. they probably had a stand in chef in and it was a monday.

have you tried Kiplings? twice i have been there and both times found it far to rich (all butter and cream!)

Lebowski - oooh good idea.. maybe curry on the return so we van bloat out, undo the top button no the trousers and lie back without the stress of a ride ;)

  • Lebowski are you the aussie guy I saw at the giles peterson thing last night with my flatmate festus, who also works for rollapaluza? I'm thinking of creating a ride for this for sure, will just have to sort a date.

  • You guys inspired me to put this together:

Because I can't see that he's posted anything that bad - annoying, definitely, but worthy of banning?
