Who's up for riding to the stones from Bletchley that evening, maybe leave at 6 or 7 so we're there nice and early?
-
• #203
Looks like i'll be in Kiev this weekend.
Probably for the best though, got a feeling a would have been smoked!I might be too!

I'm already on it Skully, got a bit of a route planned out. We should hook up for a beer and see if we can combine the two, muse over alternatives for the route. There's a distinct possibility that this may become a triangular route.
London - Bletchley - Stones - London. -

Cooool. Really cool.
I would only be able to manage the middle leg I think. Then ride to Hungerford to see my Gran, and train home from there.
-
• #206
So meet us in Bletchley then ride over to the stones?
Cool. I could do with someone to share that portion of the ride with, it's looking like it may be a lonely leg at the moment.

I'm thinking of doing London-Bletchley, Bletchley-Stonehenge, and then might want to get back to Oxford to meet some friends, although I don't think I'd do the last leg by bike.
TSK has just posted another possible route in the Stones 2009 thread:
-

Nice. Looks like this is going to happen.
I'd be up for leaving Bletchley earlier rather that later so that we can take it easy as my legs are going to need any help that can get if I end up doing the stones - London part of the route.
-
• #209
Actually, the worst section will be the Bletchley - Stones section. You will have to cross the Ridgeway. and then tackle the less forgiving part of the Salisbury Plains.
-
• #210
TSK I started a route that looked more like this:
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2875626I sort of guessed a lot of it but it looks more of a stright line, which must be a good thing.
Not really that familiar with a lot of it, but thought it might be nice to avoid Oxford, even (or especially) at night. Also the further west along from Newbury/Hungerford you go, the hillier it gets from my recollections of driving around there.
-
• #211
If you make the route through Abingdon, there's a 24hr Tescos, which allows a refueling stop too.
Skully's right to suggest the avoidance of Oxford at night, the outskirts are not fun to ride around.
Think poor driving and shitty roads. -
• #212
From recollection, that section out of Thame is shitty, as is long drag on the A338. Major route for trucks and pisshead moving between towns on a Saturday night. Not much fun if the surfaces haven't been touched up since winter either.

Should be cool.
I have to confirm all this but my mum should be able to feed you, me, Oliver, whoever else, and you can shower and nap there.

This looks to be shaping up to be a brilliant day's/night's riding!
-
• #215
Will have to confirm Oliver... remind me if you see me!
-
• #216
Hmm, I think I better go and buy some decent lights.
Any recommendations? -

I'm not sure about this now. It's in between Dragon Ride and the White Rose Classic and I can't make sense of the ride you lot are planning now.. thought it was just London - Bletchley? Now the Stones and back?
-
• #223
This is the officious cunt.
Hippy it's quite simple; The ride is London to Bletchley. But, some of us blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah are riding to the stones afterwards. This isn't blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah mandatory. You are perfectly welcome to ride to Bletchley then get the blahblahblahblahblah train home.
capiche?
