Saw Mos Def at The SB Empire last night.
I like him, but fuck me it was terrible.
Hour late on stage... only 60 minutes of "performance", dreadful sound blah blah blah.
Total rip off.
Hip Hop live... never. again.+1 I saw him at the kentish town forum a few months back and I felt really let down. Still a hero though.
As for hip hop live...The Roots are Amazing, mainly cause they always have a full band.

Saw Adam Ant at Koko last night. One of my mates had a spare after his friend bailled on him found out afterwards they were going for £150 each, and I got it for an IOU which was a result.
Was expecting a car crash but was actually an awesome gig, but he lost it at the end coming back on stage and reading from a book. Was quite upsetting as clearly not a well man still.

Missed that but saw them at the Water Rats last year. Went with a friend who's a rabit Mclusky fan and another who is mad for The Truckers of Husk, who were supporting. Cracking gig.

Kid Creole & The Coconuts wash up at Hampton Pool
Friday 30 JulyAdult tickets £28.00
Child tickets £14.00 (16 and under, limited numbers)
Tonight is the night to party and you won't be sitting down!
Kid Creole and the Coconuts have seen a recent revival of fashionable popularity and been entertaining sell-out crowds around the summer festival circuit.
Born in the Bronx, August Darnell (Kid Creole) is a man of multiple cultures, legends and personalities. Inspired by Cab Calloway and the Hollywood films of the 30’s and 40’s, the Kid fills out his colourful zoot suits with style and grace, dancing on stage with his inimitable, relentless and self-proclaimed cool. His lovely Coconuts are three dazzling damsels of divine dimension.
They defy description and transcend musical and fashion trends. On stage and on recordings they are unmatched in their energy, originality and musical hipness. They are timeless and unique.
They will be performing all the hits including I'm A Wonderful Thing, Baby, Stool Pigeon, Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy, The Lifeboat Party, There's Something Wrong In Paradise and Loving You Made a Fool Out of Me.
See kidcreole.com for more information.

The Strokes played Camden last night under an alias. A spent force I feel, but they were a superb live proposition in the year 2001, very rapidly losing the sparkle.
