Already seen that line up at hellfest.. it was aces

  • exactly swans vs Wizard was damned tricky, I'd already bought a ticket when the swans gig was announced so the choice was made...

I'm planning on Roadburn in april though where swans will be playing...yes

  • I've just stuck Greed on to punish myself for not going.

  • it was full of cnuts tho, who talked all the way through the support set. But i've resigned myself to that being the case at most London Gigs over the past two years.

  • Neurosis @ KoKo 6th December, whos coming?

Around then is very busy for me
Shrinebuilder (super group with members of Saint Vitus, Om, Neurosis and Melvins)
    Atp (inc neurosis)
    Neurosis
    Saint Vitus
    All on consecutive days

I think Cathedral are playing around then too. What I'm getting at is that Neurosis on the monday night will be the casualty otherwise it'll be my liver.

    I've got Kyuss tickets

  • Furry Muff. Might have to check out Shrinebuilder, sound awesome!

I think the 5 songs off the ep/album are all youtubeable....

I am very fucking excited about this.

  • I've got the chance to see either The Coral or Vampire Weekend and need to make a choice, haven't listened to the Coral since the 90's and never really seen either live before. I'm thinking the Coral. Or is there anyone that says go for the Vampire Weekend.

i've not read a music mag in about 4/5 years. i search everything out on last.fm and sites like that.

it's prolly just my shite taste in bands then.

neurosis for me though. and possibly atp if i can convince myself its worth it. i'd already agreed to go see another band the night of shrinebuilder so i'm kicking myself about that.

  • Last call for Winnebago Deal tonight at the Old Blue Last. When I say call, I mean 'I'm going'.

They kinda take punk and metal and refine it (in the most unrefined way possible) into the key elements - loud fast drums, killer riffs and angry vocals. No bass, no fucking around, just 2 men making a fucking noise.

Any band that are capable of ditching their own songs and playing AN ENTIRE SET OF BLACK FLAG COVERS deserves your respect, but it'll be there own stuff tonight.

great fun for 30 minutes after that I lose interest in them.. I did like the Winnebago Generator they did with Nick Olivieri for a while

I had no idea they were playing otherwise I'd have come along, it's only a couple of mins from work

  • Wasn't it mondo generator (they got to be known as winnebago generator cos they played as a two-piece support act (WD) then added olivieri for the headline set as MG)

Can see why you might lose interest after 30 mins, subtlety and variation are probably not their strong points... but saying that you follow logic like that and start saying things like 'you only need one ramones song in your life, they all sound the same' and that's clearly nonsense - you need 'em all.

yeah that's it.. was when Nick was alienating everyone else at the time

seen WD so many times, good fast n furious band, best suited to a support slot imo

Watched the sound checks and the first support band, then I went home. I am getting old.

  • First Band on - the ones you must have seen - were Astrohenge. Utterly insane. My jaw was dropped, the drummer was about as quick as I have ever seen, fuck knows what the keyboard player was doing, and twin metal guitars out front was ace. It was about 30 mins into their set before it kinda registered that they didn't have a singer... I was so entranced by their aural assault I didn't notice. I do not envy any band who has to go on after them, ever.

If you like them it might be worth heading up to the Unicorn in Camden to see Art of Burning Water on the 24th. free gig and they're pretty hardcore.

Loads of good gigs coming up before Christmas... Telescopes (nov 27) and then Truman's water a few weeks later at Herne Hill Half Moon. and then... Gnod + One Unique Signal + Hey Colossus mid December.... yay!
