Saw Self Esteem in Brum last night. Absolute pop perfection, in a surprisingly small room. 12/10 would recommend.

Wow, remember them beeing a lot of fun when I saw them in the Newcastle Carling academy back in 2007 and then in 2008 back when video camera quality peaked it seems.

Have fun! I've just got tix for the Marble Factory. Like you, really looking forward to it and to hear some new sounds.

That should be lively!

I saw them in Brixton years ago. One of the loudest gigs I've been too.
Then got up at 3am to ride a 100mi sportive or something the next day, ears still just muffled whooshes and ringing...
EDIT: 2008 and it was the Archer GP next day

Fucked Up we’re excellent again tonight. Even better than last year. First time at Lafayette in Kings Cross and really liked it too. Next up Pixies on Tuesday.

I'd not seen them for a very, very, long time, but yeah, great gig. Never heard Big Cheese either but enjoyed them as well
Nice venue; will always appreciate one with a balcony where there's a good amount of room to move around

I couldn’t get there until 8:45 so missed the support and was getting a drink just as they were coming on. Ended up parking myself in the balcony for the whole thing as fancied something to lean on.

Pixies were good last night. Does feel a but like they're just on autopilot with it now, though 2 hours back to back no breaks was a good effort. Crowd had some annoying characters as well.

Got myself £22 presale tickets for this last week which looks pretty decent for that price.

I saw Peter Hook and the Light in Cambridge last night.
It was a bit of a weird format; they opened with five New Order songs, then took a short break before returning to play Unknown Pleasures in album track order, took another break then did the same with Closer. Came back for an encore of three songs; Ceremony, Transmission and Love Will Tear Us Apart.
The demographic of the audience was quite something though.

Anyone able to find out who is supporting the Flaming Lips up London way next Friday?

I saw the trailer video for this and cringed my bollocks off, Hooky as a frontman singing someone else's songs just didn't seem right! How was it in reality?

There was definitely an element of cringe to it. But that goes for any band where the members are over 60 in my view.
The base material is good, so those songs are going to stand up well when played live, but it is slightly disconcerting to hear them sung by someone other than Ian Curtis. Hook’s voice is definitely not a baritone.

Very late on this, but I loved this gig so much. The 20+ minute encore of Dripping Tap was the icing on an amazing rock cake.
Would have preferred to see them at Brixton, but was actually pretty good at Ally Pally.

Edgar Jones at The Social last night was phenomenal. Driving, heavy Northern soul vibes aplenty. Shelled out 30 quid on the LP as well.

Post rock your thing? This could be good

Off to see Pendulum at Alexandra Palace on Sunday. Was originally supposed to be at the Brixton Academy. Pretty sure I've only seen them once before and that was a DJ set at Cable before it closed down. Must have been 2011 or 2012.
