  • Anyone interested in two tickets for Flaming Lips at Brixton on Saturday night?

Face value is £100 - just after £60.

    Can meet in town today.

  • Just bought tickets for the Green Day/FOB/Weezer gig in June. My inner teenager is giddy.

  • Same here. Not a massive fan or anything but Dookie was definitely a school soundtrack that I felt was worth revisiting in a live situation.

  • Wish I'd seen this!
    Did they go?

  • They did go - still a shame i couldn't make it...

  • Sorry you never got there.
    At least someone did right?

Who else you got lined up?

  • Yeah - at least they got used.

I’ve got Ill considered, talk talk, squid and black midi. Maybe the mystery jets as they’re playing in Cambridge and the wife is keen.

  • Sick.
I'm at that Talk Talk tribute show on the Southbank too!

Squid were brilliant live last week at 100 club.
I'd go see them again for sure. The vinyl version of the EP is due but not til November which is infuriating. They threw a little Daniel Johnston into a song last week and they covered a Robert Wyatt track at EOTR. That's a surefire way to please me.

I'm a bit of a black midi fan boy if I'm honest. Four shows this year so far.
I was at the Mercury awards last night and they blew the roof off... people didn't know how to take them. Matt's fucking goofy somersault was sick. First TV appearance and they made an absolute mockery of it.

I've seen Mystery Jets a few times. They're always a good live prospect.

My calender is looking good atm...

Charles Hayward and Kwake Bass tonight. I've got Pom Poko, Lightning Bolt, Tropical Fuck Storm, KGATLW, Anna Meredith and Richard Dawson imminent too.

It's been a really fucking great year for music in this country... probably because everything else about it is fucked.

  • Nice - really looking forward to the Talk Talk show; though obviously with a bit of a twinge of guilt.

I had a ticket for the 100 club show last week and didn't go - worked late instead. sigh.

Not seen Black Midi live yet but that's probably the one i'm looking forward to the most. Just seem to deliver something so completely unexpected.

I've definitely been to my fair share of great gigs this year. Big Thief at Bush Hall might be the best though I really enjoyed Sam Wilkes at Camden Jazz Cafe. Might be because i got dinner too :)

  • Yeah. Losing Mark Hollis is a tragedy.

That run of 100 Club Shows was a bit odd to be honest.
    "Fred Perry present..."
    Odd corporate taste-maker shows.
The bands didn't play full sets or encores.
Squid didn't play 'The Dial' which seemed odd.

The Black Country New Road one was great but I don't think they've got legs beyond their cult Indie status.

Black Midi is genuinely one of the most exciting things to experience.
    Their youthful chaos is infectious!

    I LOVE Bush Hall!
I haven't ever delved into Big Thief though.
    Worth it?

Having dinner on the balcony at Jazz Cafe is class!

  • Bush Hall is great. Got to see Neil Finn their years ago. That was ace.

Balcony is a must at Jazz Cafe. The oxtail nuggets. Fuck.
Ill considered tickets are at jazz cafe too.

I think big thief are great. Last two albums especially. I guess you could loosely describe them as country or folk but there’s a bit of grunge / indie stuff in there. Adrianne has an incredible voice.

  • And So I Watch You From Afar at the Camden Assembly did not disappoint tonight. I think they’re one of the few bands I’ve seen multiple times who have never been a let down and I don’t think they ever could be actually. Such a great live band. Took me right back to their gig at the Cluny2 5 years ago just a little less sweaty this time

  • .

  • Another great one last night with Sunn O))) at the Roundhouse with my dad. Don't know if a gig can get any louder than what they do without it being full feedback. Glad I had my earplugs and feel for those who didn't. The room shook from the moment they played their first note and didn't subside throughout. A true full body experience. Five songs over almost 2 hours doesn't get much better. Do wonder what their smoke machine budget is for a full tour mind. Excellent support from Anna Von Hausswolff too who had a fantastic sound mix. Every piece of the puzzle was there for a great night.

  • Caught this show as well, incredible experience.

Charli XCX the night after was great fun too.

  • Was having pre-gig drinks with a mate before Refused/Thrice gig and he managed to swag me a £10 ticket so went and saw those two bands the other night. Fun night.

Hot tip though: don't go sober for a month and then drink like a pro boozer on an empty stomach.

  • I loved Thrice back in the day. They were kind of a guilty pleasure band while Refused seemed to be a different type, more muso-friendly. Strange bill.

  • Does anyone have a spare ticket for Richard Dawson at the Moth Club?

It's finally clicked for me and I feel like I need to see him live again.

  • I had literally never heard of either of them until my mate said he was going. I said no originally but then for £10 on the night thought why not. My Milo and Cherry Ripes survived the cloak room.

  • don’t go sober for a month

    Gotcha

  • No... but I hope you get one.

    I couldn't miss it.

It's on Dice so maybe get on the returns list?
    If you haven't already.

  • Not gig related... but...

Is it pronounced "MEELO" or "MYLO"?
