  • Any ideas?

Today was absolutely ridiculous going up through bank and along high holborn al the way. I think its worse than in rush hour because of all the tradesman now parked in the bus lanes, etc, when they arent normally at 8am.

I would suspect dropping down through lincolns inn and along cannon street would be best, which I will try on the way home.

  • Wait 'till 4 in the morning and it will be fine.
    It's London ffs.

  • Surely down Kingsway, over to Waterloo and along Southwark Rd?

  • i'm not sure man.... thats a pretty damn tricky route. it could get hairy.....it's bat country round there.
if i were you i would just stay at home and never go out on my bike again, the roads can be a nightmare when they have cars on them.

  • Ear plugs...

  • Yep, suck it up down Kingsway and over Waterloo Bridge.
Peel off at the end and along Upper Ground.
Cut around the south end of Blackfriars Bridge and trundle along NCN4 along the riverside or go down Southwark Street, which is hardly ever as bad as the main routes on the north side.

  • Over Waterloo Bridge, round the Imax, Stamford Street, Southwark Street, Borough High Street, London Bridge.

It avoids Lower Thames and Upper Thames and Embankment.

    HTFU or give up now.

  • Thanks Chaps - that sounds very sensible. I will give it a try. I don't really want to use that London Cycling route across Blackfriars and down though south London, I did it once and its just too faffy, with tto many little roads. Just hoping south of the river and along sounds much more sensible to me.

  • Take a cab...

  • Use a gun

  • Oh no, not cars and vans on the road. What will they think of next.

My bike has handlebars, when correctly manipulated they help me avoid things.

  • i just done see the benefit of constant piss taking. In every one of my threads, there is a serious question to be answered. You're just wasting your life energy here on earth by typing that shit. :)

  • i would use southwark bridge if you are worried about traffic

  • Kingsway and Aldwych are death on a stick. In the mornings I go up Drury Lane (which is usually deserted) from Waterloo instead, and in the evenings go through Covent Garden (Endell St, Bow St, Wellington St) and use the bike crossing to go straight across on to Waterloo Bridge (the lights synch up perfectly for sprinting on to the Bridge and outrunning the buses that stop by the Royal Theatre). If I was going East at the that point I'd go along Stamford Street and on.

  • If your final target is south of Guy's hospital you could try Waterloo br, upper ground, cornwall road, the cut, union street, mermaid court ....

Have you not just answered your own "serious question"?

No mate in every one of your threads there is a trivial question that you could answer by trial and error just like everyone else instead of constantly wanting someone to hold your hand and/or change your nappy. It just gets exhausting that you seem incapable of just trying something for yourself, being a bit more independent and, sorry to say it, grown up.

    Extra-terrestrialist...

    Onanistist...

Will, stop being a rep whore ;)

Who started these threads "another banal question", "taking a bike to pieces", "kitting myself out", "cheaper alternatives to the Richmond area" and quite a few others?

In each case a simple search of either lfgss or using google would probably have rendered the correct answer.

  • Is this guy for real? I know i've said this before, but i'm sure this must be just another forum member taking the piss!.....It's not even funny anymore, just kind of.....comical?

  • I thought everyone used the deserted tunnel that starts at the northern end of the Kingsway underpass.

Just go down there, and about 20m in on your left, pull the metal hook that's affixed to the wall with the little bike symbol on. The section of wall opens enough to squeeze through with your bike.

The only problem is that the lights are no longer maintained, so you'll need a reasonable beam to pick out irregularities in the floor of the tunnel; but it's not too bad.

At the far end, you just push the wall at what looks like a dead end, and you come out at the base of the London Monument, a stone's throw from London Bridge.

  • Come on BMMF - you need to be a Stonecutter to use that tunnel
