I've tried playing on 42x19 which is ok, but try playing Dave (DT) on that, he's running a very low gear, possibly 39x22.

Nope it is most certainly not ok for polo lol, you need it far spinnier mostly because u can't accelerate quick enough, I think i'm gonna throw together another bike soon real cheap as well lol, but for now i'll try and get by with mine and just get a mallet sorted.
