On the back of tourney talk yesterday...
London Open is on the August 21st and every other fucker than us seemed to get round to entering. Not much point in trying to gather our fellow northerners within a fortnight of that.

Was just reading the throw-in safety precautions thread. Understandably a lot of people won't be arsed but after nearly mallet-coring myself on Sunday, I'll definitely be stepping up my game in this respect. Been meaning to do it for ages. We've been lucky not to have any serious injuries but there's been a few close calls.

Suggestions on that thread:

"As far as I'm concerned the following is a must:

• Plug yor bars
  
• Plug the end of your mallet
  
• Exposed chainrings must be covered/removed (if removed, the spider exposed arms can't stick out)
  
• Mallet head shouldn't have a sharp/sticking bolts or bits of plastic
  
• Cable ends should be crimped
  
  

The other points are optional"

Can't get excited about the cable end crimping but the others make sense to me. (so does having a brake for polo but clearly that ain't gonna stick)

I agree on all above points. However, I once paid for someone to crimp my cable end on a weekend to Amsterdam. It was exciting, although, I felt a little guilty afterwards.

Def interested in the Bristol tourney. Dave too. Would be great if there was enough interest to take a couple of teams. Unfortunately neither of us will be at polo today, so will follow developments on the forum.

thats the one phil .... i did get the feeling it was likely to be popular with the local feral youth .. not sure about a winter night's ride back home with polo gearing either !
... and it looked quite big at first glance .. but if you've already checked it out that's fine..
..could be a great tourney venue though ...

On that subject .... surely we're in an ideal spot to host a Northern Open tourney ... relatively easy for glasgow/ edinburgh, manchester york etc ... or has all this been talked about long ago

thing is, my big product launch will be 2 weeks after the bristol tourney, so i'm really not sure if i'll have the time ... and i'm definately not up to tourney team standard of polo ... but i would like to be able to make it along for the craik.
if it makes the difference between being able to register 2 teams or not, then i reckon the best bet is to put me down for the event ... also might work out nicely if Ed (or someone else) finds that they can make it along at the last minute, then they can take my place.

better get sally's brakes sorted, and do some practicing then.

Hi,

I'm new to this- the site and polo, although I've been riding bicycles since before I can rember.
Am I right in thinking you meet today (wednesday 25th august) and would it be savy for me to come along as a novice. I have a low seated, basic mountain bike and a hockey stick but little idea how to bring the two together -er- contructively.
