results from saturday -
won 2-0 against polo erectus
lost 5-0 to dead rappers
won 3-2 against hacked off
won 5-0 against la bagarre
won 4-0 against les mouettes sauvageswhat a weekend. sunburnt/sore as fuck. got severe chaffing on inner thighs (drew blood!), and can now see why people want multi geared hubs. london is massive.
learned a lot of new stuff about polo/rules as well, interested to try a few techniques on thursday.... -

I had a good practice at Elswick Park tennis courts today and really enjoyed not having to weave around basketballers or keep picking the ball out from underneath the fence or fetching it when it rolls underneath the gate or into the hole of death. Does anyone fancy trying it out for a game - maybe this Saturday or Sunday?
There's two tennis courts with straight metal nets which work as fences meaning we could have two polo pitches, one either side of the nets. There would be two small gaps on one side of the fence (net) at each end like there is at Gosforth and an extra (very small) gap in the middle between the nets. It looked like each of these pitches would be slightly bigger than the Gosforth court.
It would give us a much better surface with no potholes, no holes underneath the fences for balls to get stuck in (and no hole of death!) and it's closer to the City Centre.
I was there for over an hour this sunny afternoon and saw no tennis players at all which makes me think it's not something people really do in Elswick so hopefully we'd have no competition for the space, especially as winter is coming, although I'll have to play there more often before knowing for sure.
Thoughts?
Luke.

... not one i've checked out before Luke .... if it's really quiet, then it might be worth looking into ... 2 negatives though :
if we're taking up one side of both courts, it only takes one tennis game to totally kill our fun;
we need a floodlit venue for winter. On the positive side, 2 courts sounds a great idea' and we could always try the 5-a-side pitch next to it if the tennis courts are busy ... might be astroturf though ?

was gonna say, the 5 a side/hockey court thing looks good.... is that a floodlight shadow i can see too?

good court lucah.
fancy a look down there later on today..?
looks like theres another one just near it too? bottom of normanton terrace off the west road. -

Yeah really quiet it seems but not floodlit - could it not still do for Sunday afternoons in the winter though?
The footy pitch is floodlit and also bigger (the same size they play at polo tournaments i think) but is AstroTurf :(
If we do encounter any fun-spoiling tennis players I was assuming Ed would just beat them up.
I'll be at Gosforth for 5:30pm again tonight.

Sorry Ed didn't see your post. I'm going down for a practice at Elswick in a few minutes and will probably stay until around 4 if that's later on enough for you? Think it's a bit late to change tonight from Gosforth as I don't think everyone checks the forum before heading out.
I'm 0795 479 4133 if you don't already have it.

I don't half love neighbours like. Would of invited you round to watch with me but then I remembered it's a foreign show so might be shakey ground with you.
By Normanton Terrace do you mean the footy place next to Sceptre Street? I would have though it's a bit big.

That court looks dancer. Worth someone who's played a few times checking it out before we all pole up there though.
See yous all at Gossy - I'll try and get there earlier seen as the light's on the wane.

I don't half love exposing myself, like. Would of invited you round to watch me in the bushes - but then I remembered you have moral scruples and a strong code of disciplined conduct by which you dont even laugh at racist jokes.
By Normanton Terrace do you mean the footy place next to Sceptre Street? I would have thoughT it's a bit big.hey luca big is best. ask your mam about it.
