  • casuals in cambribge - latest update. they are currently 8th but some teams have games to play

Casuals qualify in the top 16 and will play again tomorrow, they end the first day in 13th place

  • nice update dave ... good to see the lads gannin' canny

... doubt whether we can enough players together, but anyone up for a game 2moro ?

  • my bikes in bits at the minute, bought some on one forks as my chrome ones are so heavy. Also changing the rim on the back wheel, taking the disc brakes off and going back to V brakes. Could throw something together if people are playing.

  • no worries .. back to V brakes ? i always thought that discs would be better .. in fact i've been scouring the net for basket case MTB frames with disc mounts for months !! .. although my strategy is based on playing most of my polo on wheels which having been previously taco'd, were then bent mostly straight again !!

  • the braking power of discs is better but mine needed constant adjustment and thats not the idea of a polo bike so they've got to go.

  • Stick some cheap hydraulic brakes on it will last for ages without needin to be touched. With tonnes of power

  • till the disc gets hit my the ball and bends

  • Hmmm I rekon it would be fine disc's are pretty tough. The ones on my mtb take hits from rocks and all sorts and dont bend

  • And if they do bend, use a spanner to straighten them out.

  • i used to use one, it bent straight away by a small amount and rubbed on the pads.

  • Was it a cheap mechanical brake? By any chance. Just the cheap disc's are pretty poor

  • Brilliant work Casuals. Look forward to hearing the details.

FWI there's no problem playing polo with caliper brakes, let alone Vs or discs. Hydraulic discs are a bastard to service on court compared with anything else if they bend/leak.

  • well yeah, cheap disc brakes bend, expensive ones are a nightmare to service and kinda defeat the point of a cheap polo bike..

  • This is true does defeat the point of it bein cheap. And true you wouldnt be able to do naf all courtside if the caliper went tits up. Stick with the good old rim brakes :)

  • Brilliant work Casuals. Look forward to hearing the details.

Was frickin' awesome. Well up for more tourneys this summer, like. Just need to step up our game a bit. (usual post-tourney promises)

  • i used to use one, it bent straight away by a small amount and rubbed on the pads.

nothing vetured nothing gained but its back to V-brakes for me.

  • is this wor jackie, or were there a lot of ugly beardy lanky fuggers at the cambridge tourney ?
