Looking forward to all the RB fans bemoaning having only one dominant team in a season.

Dominant team over 1 season rarely is an issue for the enjoyment of the sport as a whole.

Dominant team over successive seasons, the majority of fans tend to look forward to a change. Whether it's Mercedes over the past 8 (well, 7 maybe) years, Red Bull the 4 before that, or Ferrari in the early 00's (neither Ferrari or Red Bull held anywhere near as dominant, nor lengthy a streak as Mercedes just have).

Back to the directive though, I think it's a good move even if it does screw over Ferrari (as if they need help with that). Would be unfair to punish RB for clearly having the best design for the current regulations.

Not at the front no. Will likely bring Merc and Ferrari back into the midfield. But aside from the Red Bulls at the front and Latifi at the back it'll be anyone's guess what's going on in between.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ferrari manage to get back up to a close second within a few races, but can't see this season going any way but Red Bull. On the plus side, at least their 2 drivers might still give us some close battles at the front. Might be 2016 all over again.

Looks like Masi went too early- if he’d just held off a season he wouldn’t have needed to destroy his career to win the championship for Max.

it'll be anyone's guess what's going on in between.

On a tangential note, really impressed with Zhou so far this year. Think he's doing an excellent job for a rookie. Doesn't seem to be a million miles off Bottas in quali too, which is pretty decent praise I'd say.

If the weather in Montreal carries on like this, the porpoising might get real!

Enjoyed that, was worth staying up for. Sainz got close but i'm not convinced he was ever a real threat to Verstappen.

Yeah... quite remarkable that he could hold him off on older rubber and without DRS tbh

I was hoping for a lock up into the chicane and for Sainz to plow straight through Verstappen. Oh well.

Haha yeah that thought crossed my mind but i think everyone deserved there place on the podium, Max has been exceptional lately.

I guess so. Max didn't hit the wall of champions so I guess the title was stolen last year.

Been meaning to ask this for ages but, why is the picture quality on the C4 highlights so appalling? I thought it was my telly for ages but then i noticed that compared to the C4 footage even the 5 min YouTube highlights looks amazing.

C4 or C4 HD? Standard def broadcast channel is shit quality.

standard i guess. It's so washed out and blocky it's almost impossible to watch.

Maybe it's a bias due to the poor Ferrari performance, but I found it a pretty dull race (relative to other Canadian GPs at least). Though maybe the washout quali got my expectations raised!
