  • Very impressive bit of damage limitation.

  • Great drive from both Mercs there, Perez had a damn shocker. Given the performance deficit between the Merc/Red Bull and Ferrari/McLaren, there was really no excuse for not passing Sainz. Can understand Red Bull playing it safe going for the mediums instead of the softs to be fair.

Should be a damn good race tomorrow. Good to see those typical dark grey clouds hanging over Interlagos also, here's hoping for some weather!

  • So is Channel 4 not showing the sprint quali then? I didn’t sit up late last night to see if it was on but it’s not available on All 4.

  • Was on at 11.20 according to this... https://www.channel4.com/tv-guide/2021/11/13

Strange that it says highlights considering the programme is 90 mins.

  • Of all the seasons to conclude with a trio of utter snore-fest tracks (making some assumptions there granted), this was not a good one.

  • Did they really exclude Hamilton for a 7 thou variance on the wing? Sounds mad.

  • Always been a zero-tolerance policy with technical infringements as far as I recall, I remember Vettel having to start from the pitlane after he was missing 150ml of the required litre of fuel after qualifying. Guess it makes sense given the amount of grey-area exploitation in the sport.

On a tangential note, did you catch the Moto3 title-decider last week? What a way to end a championship fight

  • Bottas cannot start races in pole.

  • To be fair, it's not the most adventageous pole position on the calendar. Off line and while it's the inside for 1, it quickly becomes the outside for 2.

Genuinely think Hamilton has a chance at taking this win, not sure if it's just the new engine but Hamilton's straight-line speed has been on another level this weekend.

Must be that massively illegal wing! /s

  • Hamilton on fire (not literally). Safety car has put the cat amongst the pigeons…

  • Must be that massively illegal wing! /s

Ha. Definitely makes the rest of the season interesting if Hamilton wins today.

  • Prediction for me is that Hamilton will pit first, Verstappen a lap later and will have Hamilton on the back of him. Hamilton will pass right away and drive off to the win.

Edit: Close, but not quite right!

Not 100% sure on the live standings, but presumably Hamilton needs to finish in front in order to prevent Verstappen only needing a trio of 2nd place finishes to win. It's not looking like Perez or Bottas can do much to get in the way.

Prediction no.2: We'll see another safety car, Perez will pit for softs and manage to catch Bottas for 3rd and grab fastest lap also.

    Edit2: Didn't see this coming!

  • Classic Verstappen. Under pressure, all rules go out the window. That’s not racing, it’s just dangerous.

  • Haven't seen an onboard, but would assume it was a twitch of oversteer that took him wide. Given the amount of data the stewards have, he'd be daft to do something that can easily give him a slam dunk penalty.

  • Ant Davidson chirping in saying the stewards haven't seen Verstappen's onboard. Not sure if just being clueless or his bias as a Merc driver is showing!

  • Correct result today. Insane drive from Hamilton on both days.

  • Great race, bit dry for my liking but great race. Would happily just watch a season's worth of Interlagos GPs.

Now even more miffed that we've got Abu Dhabi, Qatar & Saudi Arabia to close out the season. Hoping for no chaos or crashes that stop us from getting a proper showdown.

If I were Red Bull I'd be pretty concerned here, think they would've had Interlagos as a bit of a Red Bull track.

Also, while I'm all for Alonso or Vettel winning more, this idea of a prize for the most overtakes in a season seems pretty damn daft.

  • Looks shonky as fuck.

  • I didn't see any hint of oversteer, looked completely deliberate and very cynical.

Five second penalty would've cost Verstappen another 3 points.

  • Outstanding drive of Hamilton this whole weekend! While it's really going to be exciting until the very last race for the title fight, Mclaren seem to have lost it

  • Five second penalty would've cost Verstappen another 3 points.

This is the important bit. Hope they decide to take action once the onboard is available but that’s clutching at straws.

  • Again to play devil's advocate here, why not just run him wide like has become the norm in F1 in recent years? As far as I recall they were basically side-by-side so while Hamilton would've had a bit more grip, it's not like Verstappen would've had to pull a crazy dive to force him wide right?

Looking forward to seeing the onboard eventually. I think as the stewards have already said there was no investigation necessary that there would be any penalties applied, but he could still get penalty points I think.

  • While it's really going to be exciting until the very last race for the title fight

I dunno, I'm having flashbacks of 2010 where we go into the the final race with everything to play for and are treated with a frustrating procession with no actual racing going on.

Either that or Max or Hamilton are going to end up in the wall in Saudi Arabia handing the championship to the other.

Pessimistic as that may sound, it's definitely been the best season in almost a decade!

  • Dubious move - looked highly cynical.

  • Hamilton was just superb this weekend. Utterly glorious,
