  • Vettel should have retired last year, this season he's just looking worse and worse.

  • Running people off track going into the chicane under heavy breaking isn't normal. Can't think of Hamilton doing that to rosberg - maybe I'm wrong? Getting pushed wide coming out of the chicane is completely different

  • f1 did everything they could to avoid penalising ferrari yesterday

  • Vettel has got to retire this year if he's going to be able to hold on to even a shred of dignity. His 4 world championships feel like a life time ago.

Who could ferrari replace him with, there unlikely to go with 2 rookie, back to Kimi, lol or daniel ricciardo, that would be interesting / ACE to watch.

  • i worry that danny ric has done a bit of an alonso. one more year at rb and then he'd be ripe for the red car, but then hindsight is awsey.

  • I agree, Ricardo is in the wilderness at the moment which is a real shame as he seems a genuinely nice, fast racer.

  • Also, Merc playing the

    "We're going to pit"
    "Ooooooh no we're not!"
    "Ooooooh yes we are!"

    game, can fucking do one.

Bringing out the hard tyres on their dummy stop too when they went with mediums in the end...
    Dodgy

  • Can definitely agree on that, seems to have fallen into the group of drivers who can run off from the field when everything is going well. Then falls to pieces when anything goes wrong.

  • I'd vote Hulkenberg personally. Doing pretty well against Ricciardo this year and is pretty consistent to boot.

  • I'd be interested to see the steering inputs, to me it doesn't look like he deviated from his line.

You're right, for the most part Hamilton ran Rosberg wide coming out of corners, wouldn't say it's completely different personally.

For something more similar, this went unpunished from Hamilton:

Really, the guy has his moments, but there few and fair between.

He currently looks like he's on his way out of F1, unless somebody like Hass gives him a go. It's difficult for Farrari given the current race to bring in younger and younger drivers.

Perhaps they'll spend the big bucks and get Max in.

  • for the most part Hamilton ran Rosberg wide coming out of corners, wouldn't say it's completely different personally.

The difference being, coming out of corners the driver being ran wide can choose to lift/brake to get out of the situation. Going into corner, they are all ready at maximum braking so have to make a choice between going off track or making contact

  • Oh I wasn't saying there's no difference, I get that. For example I don't see anything wrong with Sainz/Albon from yesterday.

On the other hand, Verstappen/Leclerc looked pretty much on the limit.

My point was more, I don't think it's a clear cut no penalty incident if you run someone of the track, just because it happened on corner exit.

  • I think Ferrari always want a 1-2 driver set up, Hulkenberg could be a good Barrichello.

Max + Charles seems more like an Alonso + Hamilton pairing to me

  • Danny Ric’s time in F1 has just been badly timed. At Red Bull he ended up paired with Max where we ended up with two very talented drivers, both equally capable of winning races, but to win a championship these days you need a need a lead driver and a number two who is prepared to support them. It was great having them both on the team because they both genuinely got on and fought like enemies on the track, but it did mean the cars got a bit bent from time to time when they played a bit rough on the track.

His problem with switching teams to be a lead driver has been timing. There has always been someone already signed up at any of the teams where he could have been a contender against a Red Bull car. Renault that year were burying resources into poaching staff from other teams and around the industry to grow the team, including nicking Danny Ric. I genuinely thought they might be a threat this year, but for some reason it hasn’t materialised. Hulkenberg is kind of the same, he’s a very talented driver but never really been able to shine because of the teams he’s been with.

I’ve said it before, I was gutted when I heard he was leaving the team, as were a lot of the team and Christian Horner seemed to be genuinely upset as well. He’s a talented driver, mature with some good moves and his single lap pace was always better than Max.

  • Could he come back to Redbull to partner Max again or has that ship sailed, caught fire and sunk?

  • Slimming down my man cave a limited edition PETRONAS oil barrel pic of Lewis Hamilton driving .only 1000 off these oil drums were made around the world

  • dibs the oil if you split

  • It's been a difficult year to be a Vettel fan. Finally!
Also good to see Leclerc be a bit more calm out of the car after what happened with the pit stops. Trying to overthrow the current #1 driver is not going to result in a long career at Ferarri.

  • Leclerk will be their #1 next year. He consistently outperforms Vettel in just about every way.

  • Possibly, I imagine that'd only be the case if he makes a very strong start and Ferrari have a championship winning car.

Also, Mercedes telling Bottas to slow down by 3 seconds a lap, can do one. I think the "Valtteri, this is James...", is fast becoming the new "Fernando is faster than you, can you confirm you understood that message?"

But that message was buried because only Ferrari do team orders (which are legal now) don't they? Benson and Palmer also come across as being very anti Ferrari/Vettel.

  • Both BBC and Sky are pretty horrendous when it comes to pro-Hamilton bias, Ben Edwards on C4 isn't much better either. Granted, I'm sure the Italian press are worse, and I've heard the Dutch press are in the same league.

It's a shame because one of the great things about motorsport is that with so many competitors, there really shouldn't be the same amount of tribalism as you might see in football/rugby etc.

Unfortunately, I imagine this sort of writing is what gets the clicks, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

At least there are no Brits doing well in MotoGP, so that coverage is still enjoyable.

  • One of the best race in F1!!

  • I rarely watch it but tuned in at lap 55, good stuff.
