But really, who cares?

true.....

To be fair, Bottas needs to put himself in a position for Lewis to be able to give him some help. I can only think of two races this year where he's been anywhere near being in the running for the win.
-

really i can think of 4 - two of them he was told to back up the ferrari's/kimi for a few laps before his 1st pitstop, dropping him down to about 4th after he came back out..... 1 of them he was asked to move over, and 1 of them he backed off a first corner fight, well before he had to, to ensure no smashy smashy.....
also bottas might not be going at full tilt if he knows he will be asked to move over/hold position etc etc
these last 2 races are the time to prove himself now.....how long before the axe(s) starts to fall at Ferrari ?

2 races, 4 races its not like it puts him in a position to win the title. The point I was trying to allude to was that Merc don't have a problem with there drivers racing for the title as per rosberg vs hamilton, they'll even live with a bit of blue on blue.
During the recent controversy over the switched positions Toto said Bottas needs to be faster at the start of the season if he want equal billing to Hamilton, I seam to remember Bottas admitting as much too.
how long before the axe(s) starts to fall at Ferrari ?
If we're talking about mistakes made which have cost the team points I assume your talking about Vettel ?

oh i totally agree about Bottas , now is his chance to shine (and of course in the early part of next year) esp. as rumours are already starting about his replacement after next season.
Management at Ferrari + strategists--- vettel i think will get 1 more year.....

If its anything like the last few years Hamilton will be on holiday now until about 4 races into next season.
How much longer has Vettel got at ferrari?, I have a feeling Lewis likes the idea of winning in red in Italy. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at ferrari after 2 more years at Merc, he'll only be 35ish at that point.

Interesting suggestion. I imagine that he'd want to maximise his earnings for his final year.
Would that be Ferrari? I was also quite surprised at Ferrari's new, Italians only, policy for team members - presumably that excludes the drivers as I don't know two Italian's who would be suitable.

Isn't Charles LeClerc French?
-
• #6661
That's rather the point

Is that a policy though? Or aren't there any Brits that want to move to Italy?
-
• #6663
It was on the C4 commentary on one of the recent races - that the team was deliberately recruiting only Italians - with the commentator asking the (largely rhetorical) question of where the drivers were going to be produced from to meet that requirement.

Interesting! I remember the dutch commentary telling us a few years ago that Ferrari had trouble finding talented engineers that want to move from the UK to Italy, since every F1 team is located in Britain and most engineers have families that are not too eager to move and have their children go to Italian schools and all.
I guess you can make it a policy if it's your only choice..

Nope, Monegasque.

Meh, same difference. Not like he's Andorran or owt.

Hanoi to become new F1 street circuit in 2020

I'm kinda excited for Interlagos this weekend. No more WDC to care about, rain predicted, we could see some extreme strategies to try and get a win IMO.
-
• #6669
Looks exciting, I likes a bit of street circuit.
My first thought was which one is getting biffed off. A couple of the teams were keen to dump Mexico (edit: should be Brazil) because they kept getting held up and robbed during the event. I heard Mercedes got properly done over last year, one of their buses got held up at gunpoint and they lost a lot of belongings and cash. But then I saw Liberty want 25 races...

I thought that was Interlagos? Could've been both, I suppose, although it's a bit careless to be robbed at two different races in one year.
-
• #6671
You’re right, it was Brazil. I had a feeling I’d mixed that one up.
-
• #6672
Believe it was Interlagos, it's a relatively common thing unfortunately.
I'll assume the Vietnam circuit will be a borefest and will be cut off the calendar after a season or two.

• #6673
Long straights, tight corners. Sounds just as exciting as Baku to me.
-
• #6674
Baku is an odd one, the first race was a complete snore-fest, the recent ones have been relatively decent though.
Though F1 has more than enough street courses as it is IMO.

It’s another Tilke design isn’t!?
Just read that Assen is doing their upgrade this winter with F1 license to be issued sometime in Q2 2019. Regardless whether them or Zandvoort get it. Having been to Moto GP at Assen and DTM at Zandvoort I’m really torn on which one I’d prefer to be added.
