Probably the only car likely to give the Mercs a run for their money. That Merc will be hard to beat though. Their power unit was awesome last year and I hear they've made large improvements.
Elsewhere, aside from all the car launches for this year there are major movements toward the rules for 2017, particularly regarding the cockpit halo or canopy ideas. Red Bull have been working on a half canopy design for over 6 months and are desperate to have their design approved over the open halo ideas. They've even said they'd make it for other teams if needed. Their idea is much better though and looks very good but they do already have 6 months head start over everyone else in terms of aero development etc. for it so they already have a huge advantage, which is obviously why they're so desperate to have it on the cars next year. Apparently the FIA like it too.
2018 could even see a fully closed cockpit canopy, similar to that of an F16 fighter jet!F1 cars are going to look quite different in the coming years...

I would like to see the single tyre supplier arrangement ended, would make for more intriguing racing

^This. Shun the big manufacturers too. Toyo or Yokohama FTW!

Unfortunately that's not on the cards.

If full canopy what is chances of a driver becoming trapped?

In the event of a coming together, how often do modern F1 cars end up upside down?
-
• #5411
Less often than Le Mans closed cockpit prototypes I'd wager.

I think le mans use a safety cell system for the cockpit. This would be ultimate badass if translated to F1 imo. Maybe not as Personal / engaging? Also a different entry system from dukes Hazard. Halo is a bit shit tho. Saying that, the last attractive F1 Car was Jean Alesi's Ferrari. FIA be trolling fo time.

David Coulthard, Mark Webber, Alain Prost, Alex Zanardi, Susie Wolff, Karun Chandhok, Bruno Senna
Too many former drivers? Its seems so to me.
I can't see DC and Webber disagreeing much, so what Webber will add is a bit of a mystery to me. I'd love to hear Prost discussing a race with Lauda though. Are Susie Wolff, Alex Zanardi and Karun Chandhok supposed to appeal to new demographics? Otherwise, they're not essential viewing IMO.

From what I understand some will be on rotation, so won't be all of them every week.

James Hunt's Hesketh 308 was parked outside Arbuthnot Latham on Wilson St last night. Not sure why but it's a beautiful thing.

Not only that, His sons were there too.
I passed it as I rode home, chatted to the owner, and the blonder of the Hunt siblings. Nice chap.

Just watched 'highlights' of the farce this morning. Made me not want to be bothered with the race. Is there any motorsport that hasn't been f*cked up yet? I remember giving up on btcc when manufacturers pulled out and the format was all changed. Now I feel the same about f1.
Meh

^ this and Alonso to give up f1 and either retire completely or try for Le Mans.
It won't have been the first time she has quashed rumours about his condition. Sadly it probably won't be the last either.
